Note: i am not trying to be sarcastic, condescending, or facetious, i just have to say what i have to say here:

    1) Well, skinny, it was nice knowing you, if you know what i mean. You have to do what you feel you must do; That's all cool(i guess). Believe me, as someone who was always obsessed with money i looked into this. i did not like what i saw. Yes, i admit i was scarred. Maybe if i were armed and had the right equipment i would not be as scarred.

    2) Why can't they modify a tank by maybe installing a fifth wheel on it or have it be able to tow a converter dolly and then the trailer on the converter dolly. It would be slower, but it would get there if you know what i mean.

seems to me when I checked them out...
KBR actually states that "KBR can not be responcible for your saftey"
at that point I was finished checking them out.
Also my brothers neighbor's son went to work for KBR he came home 9 months later...oh yea he now only has 1 leg...with NO long term benfits from the GOVT or KBR....can you say he is on his own...after loosing a leg from an IED...

Skinny =don't listen to all these, well let's just say haven't been there and know it alls. i spent 14 months working for KBR. They suck. But you can make good money. Drivers did have problems in some areas. Tape they are referring to happened. guard troops took wrong turn and then a bunch got shot up. Extremely rare occurrence. Most of the time it was boring and hot. Trucks were mostly Volvo and Mercedes cabovers. Nice at the time. Ballistic blanket in all. Kind of like giant shower curtain bullet vest. When I was there Fallujah was hot and also up around Tikrit. Had a lot of coalition troops guarding. Pols, El Salvs , Bulgarians. And US of course. Foreign troops would open up on anyone or thing they wanted. not like here where maggots like John Murtha would call them murderers. From what I have heard they are hiring mainly drivers from the Balkins now. They work cheaper. Same w/Fluor Corp who took most of the LOGCAP contract work from them. You are right about it being just as dangerous if not more so here in states. Dead is dead whether you get it with an IED or a 22 in many of our large cities and truck stops. Might also check DynCorp. They have also taken large portion of Kick Back & Relax business. Mainly police training but some logistic contingencies. You might apply for recovery driver. They have a lot of them to go out and either fix truck or tow in. Have to have some mechanical knowledge. Of course most KBR mechanics couldn't do a proper oil change so there you go.
    Good luck.

Tanks are easy targets. And easy to knock out w/ RPGs. Speed is your friend. Most convoys would travel 60 or better w/hummer about every 3 or 4th vehicle. 50 cal turrent. Radio jammers front and rear. really piz zed off the Iraqis when all there cell phones went dead as convoy rolled by.:biggrin_2559:

Sorry to hear about the young man's disability. Can happen for sure. But it is not the norm. When your number is up it's up. Our troops mostly went by "if God brought you to it -God will get you through it." I stole it as nothing else was any better.

I never had a problem with KBR. They never lied about what I was getting into and I made my own choice to go. My problem was that National Guard and Army Reserve Troops are MORONS in general. If your escort is regular Army or Marines you are in good hands. I wouldn't go for money though. Go to supply our miltary with the things they need.

That's good money there. You earn every penny though, in my opinion. I had (had because I lost track of him) a friend who was a diesel mechanic and went over there working on KBR trucks. He made around 80k in 8 months, if memory serves. I think all or most was tax free.

    Good luck, keep us posted.
