    This was along time ago before all the PC crap & cell phs .. I had to call in every day to check in & call her for my next load we got to be good friends & I ended up in her bed.. I just thought she was a employee because her last name wasn't the same as the owners..
    I turned the tables on them when they found out I was sleeping with her I told.her step dad it was his fault for Assigning a hot 28 yr to dispatch a 21 yr country boy..

    Those parts are expected to be tore off the truck within the first year of commercial use. How I still had them on my previous truck before I handed it in I’ll never know.

    People sometimes get fired for non-MVR & non-drug related questions on their job application. It could be something like "do you live within X distance of the terminal", or "can you lift X pounds regularly", etc. Then the company may learn the applicant's answer was wrong and fire them for not disclosing the info even though the question's answer was NEVER an issue during their employment.

    One example could be sneaking a pet into the truck when company won't allow it. Say the pet never damaged the truck, left no trace, never was an issue in any way even by the admission of the company. Maybe the pet was a goldfish. The company could fire the driver for violating company policy or lying on the orientation paperwork when they agreed to abide by policy.

    Not every firing is breaking equipment or failing avdrug test or driving badly. It could be a paperwork issue. Knowing the gory details may help answer the question or it is often just a demand to be emotionally satisfied by pointing at the OP. We don't know. People get to decide what they share.

    Well I had a company let me go for mirror that fell off. I went to fontana to drop off my tractor, when I was pretripping the tractor I was suppose to take, The mirror glass (like bad adhesive or bad repair) fell out of the driverside door mirror and broke when it hit the ground, so I went to the shop to get it fixed, and was terminated for accidently breaking the mirror even though I had never moved that tractor before the mirror fell off, That was day 89 of the 90 day new hire probation, So smelly stuff sometimes happens.

    When one door closes, look for the next to open. Probably be better anyway.

    Less than you'd thunk. For that particular piece, we budget to replace somewhere between 30-40% a year, and any damage is considered non-preventable.

    Same thing with the wheel hub covers.

    The Flow Below don't get replaced when they are damaged, but again it's categorized as "cost of doing business", not as a preventable accident.

    The reason for this is even Freightliner couldn't stop themselves from tearing that stuff up. When we had the prototypes in for testing, both drivers were 20 year consecutive safe drivers. The first guy took one look at the bumper and said "ah he'll now, I'm not driving that" and got it in writing that any bumper damage wouldn't be his fault. He drives it for the week and Freightliner picks it up, downloads data/whatever and drops it back at the yard. The shuttle driver did what he always does - put the steers on the curb, then back up an inch. Bye bye bumper. When Freightliner took it to the unveiling they cracked the bumper driving it up the ramp into the convention center. After that it became company wide policy that tearing up the lower part of the bumper is a "Please don't, but if you do don't stress it".

    That's a design flaw. As big as your company is, as many trucks as they buy, they could get that corrected before it ever left the factory with something custom designed to withstand the abuse.
    It must be cheaper for the company to just keep repairing the same damage over and over...or they think it is. Downtime kills.

    It's a harder problem than it looks.

    You can go forward over just about anything, the problem comes when backing up. How do you build something that can hold its shape and position at 65 mph, but can still move back and forth?

    Regardless, as long as we replace less than 30-40% a year, we're still money ahead on fuel savings with diesel at $3/gallon.

    In 605k I had the lower part replaced twice and mended a half dozen times. I may not agree with the logic, but the two guys doing the math are both really talented, and one of them is a good guy too.
