Since someone I messaged put it out there so I guess I'll tell. I was let go from Roehl over application/ background issues. I was with them for 4 months with absolutely no issues. Was fired over not disclosing 2 accidents I had in personal vehicles that I wasn't at fault for and they aren't even on my MVR report.

One of them was before I even got my CDL. Flatbed tore of left side of vehicle turning too sharp. Wasn't at fault and even got my deductible back. The other was December of last year. I was turning on home street (had the light) and a guy hits right rear of vehicle. Cops weren't called and nothing came of it.

I wasn't being nefarious when I didn't list these. I genuinely did not know I had to. No other employer I was with ever mentioned it and it was never an issue. I'm honestly think they did this because I had a VERY minor work place injury and they were probably afraid I would try to seek workers comp (even though I told them I didn't want it).

The only things on my MVR report is my 1st accident when I was 17 (5 yrs ago) and breaking right side fender while I was still at Swift (was with them for 9 months.). Idk what to do. I've been looking and applying since Tuesday. I hate I lost that job because it was a great job. I honestly wanted to stay there for years. Sucks...

So let me get this straight, you were fired for not disclosing two traffic incidents that have nothing to do with anything with the job?

    How did they find out?

I was wondering how they found out too?
How would they find out - where can a company find this information if not on record?

JoeyJunk, Sons Hero and Oxbow Thank this.

They find out when a more complete background check or inquiry that includes insurance records shows you or someone else made a claim.

This begs the question in my mind:

With all the cost incurred by a company in new hires, why wouldn't they do this extensive of background test prior to hiring?

My best guess is that the company does this to have something in their back pocket to use as an excuse to fire an employee in the event that something else occurs that they would like to be rid of an employee but cannot.

@nadiyah2000 mentioned that there was a minor work related injury in which she did not choose to file against worker's compensation. I suspect that there is something like this that is the reason the company is now playing their hole card. Right or wrong, that's business.
