    YeAH!
    I wonder too.

    I'd bust them ol' barrels,
then go home and wring out my socks.
And think up a fitting name for my new
    adult drink invention.
    Any suggestions? :biggrin_25523:

Aftershock what are you talking about? I never said she wasn't entitled to her decision. I don't like Smart-###'s. Simple as that. It appears that she is the one who doesn't like different opinions as she attacked those of us who supported the original poster. It also appears that you are one of her buddies because your taking her side when she was the one who started attacking.

Would you believe that a LOT of folks ask me that?
I went back and re-read all the posts pertaining to this conversation, and I don't recall any questioning of The StoryTeller's "decision".
I think it's her OPINION you're having a hard time accepting.
    Neither do I.
    And that includes name-callers.
    Simple as that.
    "ATTACKED"?!
    Hmmmmmm
Perhaps it's how you're reading what she wrote?
Because I'm not reading any "attacks".
    No kiddin'?
That's how it "appears" to you?
Well, ......... it just so happens you're correct about us being "buddies" --- but you're waaayyy off base when you assume that I, Shakey AfterShock, would even consider taking the wrong side just to back "buddies".

    NopE!
I calls 'em like I sees 'em.
And hope others will do the same for me.

    I'm kinda partial to
    "Lizzy Borden"

    Or, maybe

    The Greatest StoryTeller Ever Told.

But that might be a tad long.
    Ya reckon. :biggrin_25523:

And I think it's my opinion you and her are having a problem with.
    Wow what a shocker.

That would be your opinion, and you're welcome to it.
    What's your point? :scratch::dontknow:

OK folks, lets not stoop to name calling and being disrespectful towards one another.

    PLEASE keep the discussion civil.

    Thanks!

Wow! This thread seems to have taken on a life of it's own from the original poster's question.

I'm beginning to wonder if it belongs in the politics section or the health corner.

There have been a lot of valid points made here. Storyteller, I gotta say you have made some good points! I happen to agree with a lot of what you said.

On the other hand, I understand addiction as a disease process, that deals with compulsion and obsessive behavior. Addicts have a saying, "One is too many and a thousand is never enough". Their brains react differently to the same chemicals that normal people have no problem with. As soon as they take the first drink or drug, their pleasure center in their brains starts screaming for one more. I have never met an alcoholic or addict who was happy that they couldn't do it like "normal" people. It is a devastating disease to them, their family, their co workers, friends and yes, sometimes to the public.

I still applaud the original posters 13 years of recovery! And you too, Lurch and anyone else who is doing it "One day at a time".

People can change and some do with a lot of work on their part.
