I am looking to get into truck driving, I have driven non cdl comercial trucks for 18 years, in about 30 of the lower 48 states. I currently have a Class A permit with Doubles and Tripples and Tanker endourcements. I also have my DOT Medical Card. I am scheduled to start American Truck Training in Oklahoma City, Ok this weekend. I am taking weekend classes because I can not afford to quit my job. I have been told it will take 6 weeks to graduate.
I would like to drive for someone that pays for oriantation, and pays for training. I would rather not drive teams. I would prefer to only be out a week to 2 weeks at a time before coming home, except durring training. If at all posssible I would rather get all my training done and my first solo run in before I come home. No sense coming home until I have made some money right? I will be paying for school myself so I would like a company that offers tuition reembersement.
I have a clean MVR and have never been suspended or revolked. I have never refused or failed a drug screen. My only hic up is that in 1994 i provided a ride to my friends father, who sold cocain to an undercover police officer. I was taken in and questioned. I had nothing to hide so I willinly spoke to them without an attourney. When they asked me if the man had payed me any gas money for the ride I said yes(trying to honest was a mistake). Because I accepted the gas money they said I proffited from the sale and charged me with Conspiricy To Distributed a Controlled Narcottic. They told me I was facing 25 years in prison. I am not claiming to be 100% enicent as I knew something fisshy was up, but I never had this in my personal poosession, I never sold it to anyone and had absolutly no way of providing cocain to anyone. I was 22 years old had never been in any kind of trouble, had no money for a lawyer so I took a plea bargin for a seven year suspended sentence. If I would have known that almost 20 years later this would still be haunting me I would have taken my chances in court.
I know that Trucking is a lot more than sitting behind the wheel sight seeing and I willing to work hard and make some a good hand I just need a chance.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
I just need a chance
