Your right, that is the law! Fortunately the DOT Dept of engineering has people with a little more intelligence than your average law makers. Otherwise the inbound traffic 30 mph sign and outbound 50-55 mph signs would be positioned directly across the highway from one another. Trucks have been getting a run at the hills and increased speed zones for years, and for years there have been cops that can understand why we do it, sad to see it all end!
The judge will most likely understand.

You think I would speed up before the sign knowing that there was a cop behind me? Of course not. I waited until after I passed the 50 sign.

I say again, there is NO WAY I was speeding AT ANY TIME the cop was behind me.

What we have here is a cop that thinks I was going over 50 mph coming into town but he didn't get me on radar so he waited until I was doing 50 again. In his mind, he thinks this is OK.

When he handed me the ticket, he said "I only charged you with 45 in a 30". What does he mean "only"....45 is exact;ly what was on the radar. In his mind, I caught a break.

He is a lying pig and if it's OK to do this for a speeding ticket, I'm sure he's done it before for criminal charges. We pay this scumbag's wages and he has no place on the force. Sadly, he's just a young punk and he learned it from someone.

Pretty sad when we need video and audio to protect ourselves from the police.

You're apparently confused about the definition of "speeding".

That's one lesson, I guess, but not the pick of the litter in my estimation.

Honestly, I'm wondering why it's "okay" to go 36 in a 30 in the first place. If the speed LIMIT is posted as 30, doesn't that mean that legally we should be doing 30? (At minimum 25.)

Just because the police won't bother to pull you over doesn't mean it's right. Just food for thought.

Ya know, I was in some what agreement with the poster up till the last post. You openly admit you were KNOWINGLY SPEEDING (36 in 30, no biggie though since it's no points. WHAT?) But when someone points out the fact you were whining about being stopped for breaking the law (whether you were or not is inmaterial at this point) you call them a troll you have lost all credibility what so ever. I personally have doubts about thus whole story at this point.

If no one has mentioned it yet, 15 over is considered a " serious moving violation ". Two of those in a 3 year period and you can kiss your license good bye for 3 months.

"II got another speeding ticket today. I wasn't speeding this time though."

He absolutely said he wasn't speeding.. and he most definitely WAS speeding..

I guess we, as "professional drivers", are allowed to decide for ourselves what is acceptable and not acceptable in terms of fudging the speed limit based on some of the posting here. Furthermore, it seems 6 over is good (acceptable), 7+ over = bad. But take that with a grain of salt.

When you start from such a position, you're asking for trouble IMHO. Do 6 over in Texas you're going to get a ticket, in a car, truck, bicycle, or anything else. Furthermore, points aint got nothing to do with it, in anybody's mind except the ticketed. Cops are concerned with revenue, not how many points you may or may not receive. So why push it?
