Some of yall act like you do nothing wrong ever. Get the hell over it, the op is willing to accept the consequences for his actions which is 36 in a 30. Not 45 in a 30.
I learned something today.....SPEEDING

He is a troll because, just like you, he is trying to make the issue about something it is not.
The thread is not about whether or not I was doing 36 in a 30. This thread is about three things:
1. It is about whether or not a cop has a right to radar you at 45 in a 50 and say it was 45 in a 30.
2. My advice to not accelerate to 50 mph coming out of a 30 with a cop following you.
3. Always have you dash cam on (with sound) even if you are only a few miles from home.
If the cop wanted to pull me over for coming into town too fast that would be OK. He didn't have me on radar and he didn't pace me with his car either.....just a visual guess that I was coming into town too fast so he would have lost in court and he knew it. So he made up some story about how I was doing 45 mph through town.
Apparently there are some folks here that believe it's OK to do that.Last edited: Dec 10, 2014

Wake up. I wasn't speeding when he clocked me. If he clocked me a 36 in a 30 I would pay the ticket and be on my way. But this is a lying cop that says he clocked me doing 45 in a 30. Tough for you people to understand I guess.
BTW, I have only run into two lying cops in my life and both were here in my home town LOL.Last edited: Dec 10, 2014

Everyone thinks that the cops give you breaks but I have a buddy that got a ticket for 53 in a 50 in his personal rig. Not by a small town cop either, it was from a state trooper. Can you get away with it? Yeah, most of the time. Me, I am not going to risk a rise in insurance rates because of something as stupid as a 4 mph over ticket. Do I occasionally go over, yeah of course. It would be hypocritical for me to say I don't but 90% of the time I am at the speed limit or below(hills).

Exactly. Thanks Wore out. At least a couple people can still read.

My driving record is clean and I pay $7,000 for insurance so I obviously am not doing too bad. Just putting my experience out there for the benefit of others is all.

Not sure that anyone ever said they were perfect. I got pulled over (warning only though) the other day for not stopping for flashing yellow lights at an intersection (I stop now at all of them, but I thought only flashing red meant stop. Yellow meant slow down and proceed with caution.)
I personally was remarking on the reasons why we feel it's okay to go 36 in a 30; points, ticket and so on aside. Not targeting the OP intentionally in any way.
Quite frankly, I've learned that the easiest way out of a ticket is to admit wrongdoing. ...usually the police are surprised enough that somebody isn't trying to get out of it.
all that aside...
1). A cop has a right to do anything they please. If it's legal and within moral parameters though is a different story.
2). Regardless of state laws, it's most wise not to increase speed at all until after youve passed the sign. If you did that, then a dash cam would've been your best friend.
3). Yes. Dash cams are your friend.
Best of luck to you on the ticket, once you've got one they aren't always easy to be rid of.rank Thanks this. -
I don't need to wake up- and you only make yourself look foolish when you try to call me an idiot for commenting on one sentence.. Everything I said is fact.. I shared no opinion on your situation, only a fact from another posters comment.. Maybe you need to wake up?
Speed all you like, I don't care.. Everybody speeds- even those that condemn others for it.. Which is why I had no comment on that- I'm not holier than thou.. -
Alright... This topic is getting derailed by who said what and the start of bickering... Let's not get this one locked.

Edit: Oh snap! My ophthalmophobia is for real!!! I must report this to my therapist! ...and by a moderator no less!Last edited: Dec 10, 2014
