One of the rare lessons I got to learn at the expense of someone other than myself was the one about heavy equipment and soft ground. Back when I was young and impressionable, I worked at a building supply place part time. A couple of the "senior" guys got a forklift stuck in a mudhole in the back lot, not entirely by accident. One of them thought it would be a great idea to snatch it out with his 4x4. Of course they discovered that forklifts are freaking heavy and get stuck badly without too much effort. But that's not all. Have you ever seen what a broken chain can do to the back of a pickup? They still had to pay a tow truck to extract the forklift without any further damage.

It doesn't have to be soft ground to get stuck. I couldn't move in a gravel parking lot with an empty trailer one day, because the RF drive tires were in one hole, and the LR drive tires were in another. Tried everything I knew to do, nothing worked. Cop saw me eyeing up a telephone pole with a strap, and was going to try and pull me out. Then a guy with a bobtail pulled up, and pulled me far enough to get moving again.

Here's some free advice.
In florida, if you call for a wrecker, it will only cost about half of what it'd cost if FHP
calls them !!
On top of that, if Werner calls the wrecker, they get it even cheaper !!
Probably a group discount thing !! -
have about 20 liberals come to your house
rig up some harnesses around their chests, and tie the other end to the front tow hooks
then announce that they are giving away free money down the street..problem solvedJarhed1964 Thanks this. -

Similar thing happened to me a while back but was empty...and the front sank down, not the drivers. I had a new trailer at the time and on the back tandem there was 2 big circular attachment points one on each end. And I'm assuming that that's what they are there for. No way a DOT bumper would hold. Luckily the friendly neighbor and some cables did the job just dandy. Lesson learned.
