Somebody please remind me of the name of that outfit Carolina....Cargo? It's Carolina Something, I just don't remember what. You could try them?
When you're giving your interviews, be completely honest and open about your history. Guys with worse stuff get hired, you can too...and will. Your best plan would be to show you are taking responsibility for your mistakes rather than defensiveness and keep repeating each time something negative is brough up that time has passed and you want to move forward with your life. You're ready to start a career, not just get a job. When asked about your employment history, try to make it sound as positive as possible: you left that job so you could take a better paying one, or you needed different hours...anything you can think of besides, "The boss was a d***head." Even if he or she was.
Go to the truck stop and get one of those little half sized magazines with all the company ads in it. Yeah, most of them who advertise in there are the likes of USXpress or JBHunt, but you have to get your foot in the door somewhere.
Make a plan. Don't just willy-nilly throw applications and resumes around. If there is a company you are particularly interested in, learn a little about the company so you can ask questions yourself. This shows interest in that particular company. There are lots of people whose only interest is to get their butts into seats. Since you have some challenges to overcome, you have to go the extra steps.
Lastly, don't give up. You may have gotten the office nag who thinks nobody is good enough. Call back...and then call back again. Good luck to you.

well i spoke with US Xpress today and i told the recruiter everything, and he said that they can work with me due to the fact that i have a teammate lined up already who has an excellent record. so IDK, we shall see. if nothing else maybe i can get a job driving for a port-a-potty company or something.

Well, keep calling. If you don't hear from them in a "reasonable" amount of time, call them. Be the squeaky wheel. You never know...they might give you a job just to get you to stop bugging them. And when you get that job, make it your goal to be their poster-child for rehabilitation. Be the best employee they've ever had.
You will make it. Just look at it that the Grandmothers know which job you're supposed to have and that's the one you'll get. You just have to work a little harder than everyone else to get it.l<enny Thanks this. -
Whether you believe as Injun does or as I do praying does help.. If it is God's will you will be driving..

be carefull I have a freind that was in the same boat you are now, and USExpress said no problem come on down, then once the recruiter got paid they sent him home, and he had to pay his own way home. I posted his YouTube Videos about it in the USX Dac section.
And as Kenworth900 Said Try Watkins Shepard thats who I work for they love teams....Not sure if they'll take you with that record but its deffinately worth calling to see Watkins Shepard is a GREAT company!
Stay away from Carolina Cargo if you can, but if you do HAVE to go with them at least you have your own team that'll make it less horrible lol
