Hydrocodone is a schedule 2 narcotic, as such, even though you may be cleared by a doctor to take it with a prescription, even if you have been cleared to take it while driving, if you are in an accident and test positive you are busted for driving under the influence. Any company that you hire on to, if you test positive for narcotic's, they will not hire you. Period. They know that if something happens, even if it can be proved to not be your fault, if you show a positive pee test you are going to jail and they are going to be sued. Stop taking it, I understand you feel that only two per day is not a lot and won't affect your ability to drive, I am not trying to argue that point for or against, but the fact is even if you haven't taken any for two days and are in an accident and test positive you will have no way to prove you weren't under the influence. As far as the law goes, a positive is a positive. You may get hired, if you test positive the tester will call you before they fill out the report and you can tell them about your prescription, so they may not legally be able to list you as positive, but do you really want to shoot yourself in the foot before you even start?
Good Luck

I figured someone in the pharmacy had swapped out the real stuff so I gave one to my college roomate to confirm. He melted into a chair and was happily drooling inside 30 minutes...
On the other hand, there are people that drink alcohol and become more active and outgoing. I have a beer and I'm ready for bed...Dreamboat Thanks this. -
Tasha, let the company you are going to work for tell you what prescription drugs they will accept and what they will not. Most companies require you to bring your medicine bottles and prescription with you to orientation for their doctor to review, this way he can be positive you have a legitimate reason to take the drug. After they review all the medicines you are taking then they will decide if they will sign off on allowing you to drive for them. Just because something is DOT legal doesn't mean a hiring company can't have a greater standard and refuse to hire you, provided it is not a protected class such as a disability that can be covered with a reasonable accommodation. Best advice is to follow thru with this orientation, see what comes of it and keep a few hundred dollars always available in case you get stranded somewhere, no one else will have your back so you have to cover it yourself.
I can not speak for the drug you are currently taking, but reason would dictate that if you went to a reputable school that did a real DOT drug test and they let you drive then it must be DOT approved since the school has to abide by all the same rules as a real motor carrier would. Again, that doesn't mean PTL has to accept it, they may have tougher standards than minimum requirements. As for the quality of PTL, most training or starter companies suck, sometimes you get a good experience, but it depends on who you get partnered with and their competence level as well as your own attitude going into the deal. Good luck. -

I took Norco for about a year and had 2 random drug tests during that time. Passed both times and was not even contacted for prescription information either time.

Seriously, Tasha, you have to get started driving loads. It's a good, clean way to earn a living. Do not worry about yourself, just climb the learning curve and be a good driver. -
Cranky Yankee Thanks this.
