I’m guessing with my wife sitting next to me working the board I could make it work in 8 months. When you fly an airplane that cost $70k/yr to insure and burns $7 of jet fuel per minute you learn about being efficient. And if you’re fuel costs are over $1.00 a mile you might want trade it in on something a little more fuel efficient. I’ve read all the threads of guys going broke with leases from the company. I’m starting with a truck purchased with cash. Also I don’t need or want to go home every weekend. I don’t have a need or want to spend money on a sports car.
I need advice on breaking in

I believe if you only plan on driving 8 months a year I’d go with a good temp service and not have the headaches of truck ownership. Even if you pay cash you will still have tags, ins, and other costs.
Geekonthestreet, Another Canadian driver and Chinatown Thank this. -
What were you flying that costs 70 K a year to insure?Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Do not lease anything . Either company drive or purchase from dealer . If you research enough you will see why I said this and the risk involved . I do not know your business acumen but be very careful with what your tip toeing around.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

I think it would be faster to rob a cigarette plant. Just disable GPS on a trailer and make a fake BOL to Mexico, right??? Who’s in?Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Do I need to be fluent in Spanish?Geekonthestreet Thanks this.

Do what u wanna do brother. If u can figure out the ag plane business u can figure out trucking. It is not rocket science although it sure as heck ain't easy either... fuel costs right now for me are over 1 dollar a mile. And I have a newer truck.. Breakeven rate for me is over 2 dollars a mile.. Everybody expenses are different. Some guys can run cheaper than that some are more expensive.. Just depends on your situation. If you have cash to buy truck and trailer and front insurance cost for the year... you are light years ahead of most guys... don't let nobodies opinions stop u from doing what u wanna do.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
