Stop telling people you're disabled for starters. You're not on medication you said, so it's irrelevant.
The industry requires you to account for the last few years, but that's as simple as signing an affidavit claiming you were just a bum.

What too many people tend to not understand is a DOT physical and Orientation is not like a #### doctors checkup or a social service interview at the welfare office.
You want to PASS these tests, They are TESTS , the object is to pass , not to get a diagnosis or sympathy or understanding etc. To put it bluntly ####. Shut your #### mouth. Dont ask dont tell. Cannot stress it nearly enough just SHUT UP! . Answer the questions in a tactful manner. Its the same thing as someone asking you , how are you , dont freaking answer by telling them your life story.
Dont lie , but dont offer extra information and understand what is RELEVANT to the question.
I have no idea why you would go around announcing to everyone you have some mental disability some quack doctor told you you had . Itsthe same thing as sleep apnea. #### and say no I don't snore and see what happens next. Most times they will move on. Not every time but more often than if you announce your problems to people/interviewers.Rocknroller4, luckystar, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this. -
Contact your county/parish DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation). Because you receive disability benefits, you are qualified to get help from them - Social Security calls this program their "ticket to work." My son was disabled for 10 years (benign brain tumor), was on disability for at least 7 of those years. He started making a miraculous recovery at the end of 2015 and made up his mind to take his life back. Participated in a work evaluation and then rehabilitation program for over 6 months, which included working on a factory assembly line-type setting. From there, he went on to CDL school, graduated this past January.
Obviously he had to fully disclose his medical history to get his medical card, but did not bring up the fact that he was receiving disability when job hunting. Many of the companies he applied to were unwilling to even consider him because he had insufficient work history, even though he was able to truthfully tell them he had been medically disabled, he graduated at the top of his class from trucking school, and he did have the warehouse/factory experience that was part of the rehabilitation program.
He was getting discouraged with all the rejections and we called his counselor at the DVR, her advice was to just keep trying and find somebody that would give him a chance. He took a job with the only company that offered him one (probably a company that would be considered a mega bottom feeder here), that lasted 3 months, and then he moved into a much better situation with a different company, where he is today.
My advice: a short attention span won't work, you have to refuse to give up. I know it can be frustrating and feel unfair, but suck it up and refuse to quit. Just let the frustration go and keep your eyes on the prize. Always remember that you are there to solve your employer's problems. If you can prove to them that you will do that, they won't care about your disability status.
The 2 most critical elements of overcoming your obstacles and succeeding: 1) your attitude and 2) faith in God. Not necessarily in that order.
And finally, for those who have been medically disabled, many states have special programs that let you keep your medical insurance even though you are working and earning an income. If you are going to work as a truck driver it's worth looking into that. My state has this kind of program, but I am unsure if we are going to bother with that, b/c my son lives with us and is able to save most of his pay, so I think he'll exceed the savings limits for our state's program soon (and he now has medical insurance with his current employer). But it might be worth looking into that for you, YMMV. -
Lie,lie,lie.
It's just part of the job out here. -
I'm not gonna knock you for trying to work and get off disability. For whatever reason you're there or ended up there but at least you're trying to get off of it and that pegs you above the rest of em in my eyes.
Don't tell ANY company you're disabled. You're fully capable of the job so just leave it at that.
As far as your work history, you'll have to come up with something there. You can pay some shady companies online to fake a work history for you, you can get a signed testament stating you were taking care of your dead sister's body, the company really doesn't give a #### what you were doing but they have to check to make sure you're not a terrorist.
You'll be fine. -
That's all you need. Verify what you've been up to for the past 3 years. This is mainly a security thing.dunchues Thanks this. -
I'm offended that you self-identify as a Chihuahua, because it's insulting to my fur-child. I demand reparations and a public apology.
