That probably won't happen because of the minority issue. You know and so does almost everybody else, that most recipients of hand-outs would NOT pass a random drug test. I would also not mind giving class C drivers random drug tests and have the same requirements for them to get their licenses back. I don't believe we truckers are giving a fair share with those randoms and those requirements and all that. We are being treated like we have a darn disease when we hold a Class A license. People still don't understand that we truckers make or break the economy.

You still need to be in a drug and alcohol testing consortuim as you need a Drug and alcohol program for your drivers, even if you are the only one, and this will ber examined during your 'new entrant' audit...

Part of the background investigation you would need for your application and qualification file includes obtaining prior drug and alcohol history...

That is true wis bang, but luckychop cannot get fired anymore when he has his own truck and carries all the costs. And even if luckychop gets popped again (doesn't pass the random), he can still hire another driver to keep his rig rolling and doesn't have to worry about how to put food on the table or where to work. All those laws and SAP crap is a bunch of bull and does nothing but put money in the pockets of those who make those laws but have no clue about truck driving. 20 years ago, I didn't know a single driver that wasn't smoking or stuffing something up the nose or popping pills. Now we have those silly butt laws - but has anything changed as far as road safety is concerned? Surely not, because now it's not those pick-me-uppers or laugh-my-butt-off weed anymore, but idiots that cannot drive with a cell phone on the ear. It's always going to be something they can stick us with, that's why I stopped driving. I just don't have the highway cowboy feel anymore when I sit in the rig. It has become nothing but a hassle, money "laundering" operation by the DOT DMV and what not, and a constant harassment for us. And the way I see it with the fuel prices, there are going to be a bunch more drivers that will come off the road in the next couple years. At the end, drivers will have to choose between the big companies - which all of them SUCK :biggrin_25510: !

BTW - For the health risk we take every day being out there, we are not nearly getting paid what we deserve. I don't wanna know how many of us end up with cancer because of those constant diesel fumes (and those DMV/DOT morons worry about THC in our lungs, a NATURAL product...tssss). We risk our lives every time we're out there...for what? Just to be treated like a pile of dookie all day? Or to be scrutinized by some disgruntled DOT jerk who doesn't like the line in our log book? I used to love this job with all my heart - not anymore. It has become a burden. I never thought that would ever happen. I hate to say it, but I'm giving myself a loooooooooooong break from trucking.
