Oh, so it is their fault that he doesn't measure up to their standards! I see.grizzly and TRKRSHONEY Thank this.
-
No. I have been talking with them for over a month. We went over all my dates and they assured me that everything was ok. So I go ahead and set up getting a new truck, getting hazmat, and several other things in place. All the while still in contact with them. Then at the last minute, after spending a good amount of money. The tell me that they won't accept my driving part time. Even though it was regional and out for 2-3 days.
So yes I feel screwed over. I wish they would have told me this a month ago so I could have set something else up. But I will move on. -
Doesn't Landstar have an outside business handle all the new applications? If so maybe the other company was telling you your good to go, but Landstar made the judgement call after they got the information from the other company.
-
I was talking to Landstar. the outside company that was doing the app processing was intellilink or something like that. I was talking with them as well. Either way, I feel like they led me on for a long time.
That is in the past now and I am stuck with trying to find a decent place to put this truck on. I looked at mercer and I don't have the startup capital to go with them it seems. Someone suggested crst malone. They have been advertising a lot around here on craigslist. I have to do some investigating. -
I don't have any first hand information on CRST so I will not bad mouth them intentionally. But, beware of anybody (trucking related or not) that advertises on Craigslist. Craigslist is known for a lot of sleeze bags and con-artists. I don't know that any respectable company would advertise there either.
Ruthless Thanks this. -
Craigslist is just another way of getting the word out. It is becoming wider used as time goes on. Where would you advertise? This forum has ads but I do not know if they do research on what companies are allowed to advertise. The best job I have had so far in driving was a craigslist ad. As soon as I saw the ad, I flagged it so no one else had a chance to apply.

Do want everyone else is doing and do it better, or do what no one else wants to do. -
You have PM.

As an owner operator leased to Swift I get $.94 p/m for a loaded mile (and all of my miles are loaded) plus a FSC currently running about $.45 p/m for a total of $1.39 p/m. After expenses I net about $.75 p/m, or to put it another way, it costs me about $.65 p/m in operational cost.
Why are your operational costs over twice what mine are?
03 freightliner xl classic is the piece you're missing. You will not make money running a hood truck pulling vans. The hoods have their places, flatbed, logging and mountain work. Work where the load aerodynamics are so poor that the tractor aerodynamics don't matter much, or the need for the biggest possible radiator out weighs the loss in efficiency. The fuel cost of running a hood is about 20% greater than running an aero truck IMHO.
Good luck, it's a very competitive field, know your costs and know what your competitive advantage is.
Please clue me in!!
thanks[/QUOTE]Chain Drive Thanks this.
