I need to vent WTF !!!!!!!!!!!

I would not mean anyone any disrespect in what they do or who they work for. With that said, I will say this: We had one rep come into class and lets say they wanted 4 weeks training (not to much of a big deal) but here is the kicker. You MUST TEAM with someone for 6 months and they are only going to pay you .14 cents a mile (your pay after the split of .28 cents). If you have Hazmat then you get .15 cents, and if hauling a Hazmat load, then you get .16 cents a mile.

What would you call this company?? I won't say who the company is.

 

Reps are nothing more than salespeople trying sell seats to butts, ignore them and take the advise you find here...We had lots of reps come to our school and all made their companies sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread, then I found this site...

 

Renegade is more like I just don't follow the same line that the last 10 people did just because the they were following the person in front of them. I make my own line based on what I see in front of me.

A little off topic, but I use to race 4x4's. My thing was "Misfit Racing." I did the work, I put in the time to build what I had, and in the end I had my day and I took each one of the other folks I raced with down. Not bragging here, just trying to say that I did not follow that same path that the other folks did.

Most smaller companies will not hire with out experience because they get a break on insurance.

 

That is what I have been doing. I read, read some more, send some PM's and ask questions of others. A lot of folks said if you have the coin or not have the coin for school, do what you can and pay for it out of pocket. Stay away from the CDL Mills, go to a PTDI Certified school, so I did that too.

I read the DAC Reports, the newbie section and the vet section too. And most of all I try to be respectful of others on here too.

I have 2 companies that I would like to get the door open to right now. I have not given that up yet. I just have some more work to do behind the scene is all and see what might happen.

Why would a good company hire newbie when they have plenty of other drivers with 500,000 to 1,000,000 miles experience? You don't know crap bout trucking yet. Put your time in like the rest of us.

 

Do you understand that when you run team that you both are paid for all miles, not just those you run yourself? If you are being paid $0.14/mile with the split and both of you together drive 1,000 miles in a day then your pay would be $140. That really isn't too bad. It may not sound like much, but you don't have any experience. Most companies will not start someone new out where they are making over $100/day. The average team should run between 5,000-7000/miles per week. At a minimum you should earn $700. I would certainly NOT call a company that gives me an opportunity for a new career a bottom feeder. When you first start out you have little to bring to an employer, whether it is driving a truck or working for a factory. You must be trained. Just because you have a CDL doesn't mean that you are a professional truck driver. It only means that you have the credentials to learn how to become a professional driver. I would have much more respect for a company that would give me such an opportunity and pay me $30,000-35,000 my first year to learn a new profession. Where else can you go to work where you are paid that much to learn a new career? If I felt that way about the company that I planned on working, I would find other employment.
