hi, i am currently unemployed and have been off the road since the first of feburary. my mom had a heart attack and i needed to get off the road so i could take care of her. now i'm able to get back on the road only to find out that i'm unable to get a job. the reason this i cant get work is due to two accidents that occured back in april of 2007. one was a backing accident with no damage and the other was that i hit some siding on a building when i was manuvering in a vacant lot. i have tried most of the bigger companies and they say they cant hire me because of those accidents. this includes swift and jb hunt. i have a clean record otherwise and have nearly 8 years otr experience. does anyone have any suggestions?

Are there any local outfits near you?
Smaller companies may not have such tight insurance requirements as do the large super companies.

there's only one small otr carrier near me, but last i checked they were on a hiring freeze. i've checked with a few small outfits as far as charlotte and nashville but havent had much luck. i have a few applications in at a few other places, so maybe something will give.

You may have to try local positions with soda distributors, or beer distributors. Or, other local companies that deliver lumber, or building supplies.
