I'm not sure how FL works but in NC you have to go straight to Main DMV Office in Raleigh, NC to set up an IRP account to get your first plate for the truck then you can go to any DMV office for renewal. You have to have a bit of documentation plus all the fee's for your sales tax, title and tag a stamped 2290 from IRS for Heavy Road Use Tax on the truck. Is the plate a temporary transport plate? If its a temp permit not a hard plate and plan on leasing to another company to run their plate yes its legal. You will probably have to sign a POA (power of attorney) in order for them to get a plate for your truck. If you can afford to go to FL DMV I would get my own plate with my own insurance then lease to the company. Keeping their hands out of your settlements as much as possible with limiting the deductions they take each week.
