I'm thinkin' your 11 years truckin' experience provides you with better than average insight(s).
That's fair.
And open minded.
I think.One driver's floorboard is another driver's air-ride seat.
There's that 11 year's experience showin, again.
Excellent post.
I especially liked your last comments.
I really like Knight Transportation

Diesels need 3000 cold cranking amps these days. Freightliner/Peterbilt have 4 of the 750 amp batteries, while Volvo has 3 of the 1000 amp batteries to get there!
Had a brand new Volvo need new batteries after just 1 run to SLC years ago.
But, trucks arent made to sit idle off and run inverters long periods these days, let alone the chicken trucker lights all nite.
It's a new industry these days, and saving $$$ is the name of the game!
AfterShock Thanks this. -
Not to mention the gelling problems that are popping up more, as a direct result of NOT idling, I think.
But I digress, .....................

Anybody here doing the port of LA to Phoenix, AZ run?
-
Many Knight drivers love the Phx to Long Beach runs for metal containers!
They can pick their hours of when driving L.A., but for me the 710 is always a mess---if at night, they are in construction!! But just running the CA60 in/out isnt too bad---dont know if night construction is over yet--the I215/60/90 has been a mess for years....ask Shockey for latest status..
-
That could EASILY be a sweet gig!

I haven't been on the 710 lately, but I-5 closes around Buena Park from midnight to 4 in the morning for construction.Still touch & go --- sometimes slow.
I wonder if that'll EVER be finished?
I'm thinkin' that a LA area to Phoenix or San Francisco would be nice.

Knight got busted for allowing those guys to run hot books from what I heard. Best if you can get it is the Port to Lebec (Wheeler Ridge) 2 loads a day for $200.
-
Yeah, heard about those container drivers/Knight mgmt getting busted. Driving the 370 miles from Phx Term to Long Beach round trip in 11 hrs in a 66+ mph gov'd truck is tight...but, cant be done if averaging 55 mph on the CA legs!
They had to loop it every 2 days to be legal from the 1-day turns. The $$$ wasnt starting to look that good..
Also, Lebec is 14 miles less 1-way than Wheeler Ridge (Ikea)! So round trip Long Beach to Lebec is 96 paid miles (or 192 miles round trip paid # .42/mile), but actual drive is 220 miles round trip!. And....that is all L.A. and Grapevine driving---you can have it!!
-
Is there a recruiting number for Knight?
I haven't been able to find one. -
No doubt there is, 81 --- but it would violate the rules to
post it here.
Google 'em.
HaiL!
I can even find ME there.
