Have the same problem with my 2011 Volvo 670 with D13 engine and Ishift tranny. Exact same symptoms. I was finally able to get a Fault Code:
MID 130 PSID 25 FMI 7
My trans does the same exact thing. While i am driving msg. would pop out CHECK THE TRANSMISSION AT THE NEXT STOP. While this msg. is on trasmission is not responding meaning it wont shift up or down and the same time Gas Pedal is not responding also. You can floor it and nothing RPMs wont go up even a bit. It costs like this for a bit when in highway speeds and then msg. goes away and everything is back to normal like it would never happend. It started to get worst. Got stuck on the green light with this msg. Had to disconnect batteries for a minute or so and then truck got back to normal. As of right now truck is at the dealership. Truck is 2011 with 493,000 miles on it. Is the ishift still coveres under warranty? -
5yr/ 750K miles is warranty.....up to 1750TQ rated motor.
If it's a 1850TQ rating motor, the warranty is shorter... Like 3yr/ 500K or something.
Most all trucks fall under the 5Yr/750K warranty.Last edited: Feb 22, 2016

Hi, I don't have all information of your problem but base on your conversation i'm suspecting you have a (Ribbon Tape) problem, it's the internal communication between the transmission ECU and the transmission control housing.
I saw this problem more than one time, when the problem occur the engine cut because the transmission ECU request from engine to cut the engine torque to be able to make a shift but nothing happen because it's a false information come from TECU.
Look for the high count code in the TECU, on gear or Range often FMI 7 also FMI 2 but never active code, if so you probably have a ribbon tape problem.
That part can be replace (it comes in a kit with internal transmission harness)
Hope this can help.
BenQUALITYTRUCK and KB3MMX Thank this. -
Thank you Ben. That was my thinking also. I was suspecting that its not mechanical problem. Any idea how much this kit costs in case Volvo wouldnt cover it?
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
The harness kit is $700. (Can) approx + the gaskets but the transmission need to be remove from the chassis to replace the internal harness.
BenKB3MMX Thanks this. -
Ben any idea how many hours it might be to remove the tranny and put everything together if it will be the harness
-
Hard to say depends of the equipment they use to lift the truck for the transmission removal from under the truck,
i would say 12 hours to be safe. . . .
BenKB3MMX Thanks this. -
Just spoke to dealer they pulled the transmission out checked Ribbon Cable everything seems ok there. They checked for air leaks no leaks. Code that I posted earlier showed up 33 times in Inactive Menu . For next step they will send eservice to Volvo with request to pull too cover off.
KB3MMX Thanks this.
