I had a chance to stay in Pete a little longer but accepted the Cascadia when she told me more new Volvos were coming in and no guarantee what I would be offered next time around. Sure enough, there are new Volvos sitting in NAS now.
She also said would be no more Pro Stars in the foreseeable future, since they insisted on selling them with their engine rather than Cummins. I drove one for a week as a loaner and wasn't too crazy about it. -
Greetings, I start orientation next week w/Averitt. I'm curious as to what method of drug test they use. Urine, hair or blood? I'm not a drug user, I'm just wondering what to expect.

What does it matter, if you're not a drug user
CondoCruiser Thanks this. -
So it matters why? There's a drug test. Either you can pass it without cheating or you can't...pretty simple. No need for your prejudice attitude.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 12, 2012
CondoCruiser and tablefor7 Thank this. -
That kind of response was pure BS...talk about behaving like a redneck. WTH?? A simple thank you or even an ignore would've done nicely.... If you're looking to make friends, you're not off to a good start, just FYI. I hair test dates back 3 years and is too biased, a UA is the standard practice because it shows what is recent. You can also ask your recruiter, they can give you the answers you seek.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 12, 2012

I honestly don't remember what kind of drug test it was...pee in a cup I think. I answer at the risk of one of your diatribes. Nice thing about Averitt, our drivers don't talk to each other like that. I wish you well and hope it's a great fit for you but do yourself a favor and loose the "tude."
I started off the week with a local delivery of the load I brought in on Friday night. Then got dispatched on a three stop load from Crossville to San Antonio. It wasn't supposed to pick up until 1900 central but I took a shot and headed up there late morning. Trailer was ready to go so I made it to N. Little Rock yard last night. Got 80 miles from my first customer in Temple and a trailer tire blew. So I am sitting at a truck stop waiting for on-road to show up. I guess I won't be sitting at the customer tomorrow morning ready for unload. I'll have to wake up my Elogs after all. Such is life.
The weather has been very nice thus far. Not too hot and plenty of sunshine. I'll take it. -
Thanks for the kind words Tablefor7. When I went to CDL school I was so unprepared for what trucking was like. I had read some forums but all it amounted to was whining and complaining about how each company sucked. Where I started out was a pain but it was a mega starter company. That's what they do...train new drivers. I decided when I came back to driving I wanted to give an honest, open view on a new drivers experience here at Averitt. So far they treat me so good and I still love working for them. Some people have had different experiences that were not as grand.
With your husband having a military background he will fit in fine. I think he will enjoy it much better than most actually. I am glad my posts have helped. Oh, and thank your husband for his service and thank YOU for yours. Military wives should be honored as well.tablefor7 Thanks this. -
Finished up my 3 stop load in San Antonio yesterday and got dispatched to Laredo to pick up a pre-loaded trailer on the yard and relay it to Memphis. I turned and burned and knocked out about 60 of it last night, and did another 670 today so I have about 3.5 hours to Memphis tomorrow. Hopefully they will find me something in the direction of home since it's Friday but you never know.
Last week I had 2424 miles and this week I am sitting at 2150 when I get to Memphis so I'll end up with closer to 2500 this week. I don't mind these Texas runs. I'll take them every week. Hope all is good in your big truck.tablefor7 Thanks this. -
Well I got my cpap machine this week and I'm officially cleared to drive again
The Challenger Thanks this.
