Big Mike hope the miles get better for you, I guess it happens sometimes. I went to orientation and it was impressive, I met up and hung out with corysti, he's a darn nice guy and also he's done very well at averitt in a short period of time, pretty impressive, these days guys his age aren't usually thinking about moving up the ladder. I do believe you will get out what you put I at averitt. Be safe I head out Monday with my trainer, hopefully we will meet soon !!!!

Last week ended up not too bad. I finished up with 1900 miles and got back home by 9 PM. Enjoyed a full weekend at home and left out this morning for Lebanon, TN. Delivered some tires there, then went 1.5 miles to pick up some pet food. I made my way down to Newnan, GA where I deliver tomorrow morning at 0700. Found a quiet little spot at the Pilot down the road so I am getting tucked in for the night. Truck stop was almost full at 1730. I was happy to find a space to make my own.

Hope all is good. Be safe out there. JBS TRUCKER, I am glad orientation went well. Keep us informed on the thread here.

Delivered in Newnan, GA. It took them 3.5 hours to unload me. Nice. Then I went to Lithia Springs and picked up a load that delivered this afternoon in Charlotte NC. I'm tucked in at the Charlotte yard for the night. I have a daytime LTL from Charlotte to Fulton tomorrow. I'll watch the election results and then get a good nights sleep. Supposed to have a load by the time i get to Atlanta to keep me moving tomorrow.

I ran the LTL from Charlotte to Fulton today. Got another LTL. Norcross to Memphis...tonight. It's tough having slept all night the night before and then driving the vampire shift but that is life in truck load. Looks like about another 1900 mile week, but I need to get in on Friday this week and I didn't go out until Monday so that is about right.

Now to try and force myself to get a nap. BTW, Friday will be my 10 months completed with Averitt. Still love it. Still plan on sticking around.

Be careful of Top Pay... Know several drivers with Averitt who all say the same thing, once you hot Top Pay your mileage goes WAY down. Avg goes to 1500 a week. The incentive for those guys is to become a trainer and get longer runs/more miles, etc... They rotate their veterans out (meaning they quit all the time), becasue of this problem, part of the reason why they recruit so heavily!

Pretty much all trucking companies do this to one extreme or the other. That would take several more years for me to reach and by then I hopefully be working for a small company and home every day. I don't have it in me to be out here in a sleeper truck for too many years. Even if I am driving a box truck and unloading stuff at customers I will do that. I am just paying my dues to get 2-3 years experience and then I will look at all the other options available.

Several of the drivers I talk to who have topped out still average 2,000 miles a week...but I have talked to the ones who do worse. I think a lot of it depends on what terminal you run out of. Being out of Chattanooga I have an advantage as it's close to several busy freight lanes.

    j mark Thanks this.
