This has been a fun week on the road. They have kept me moving since I left the house. Waiting for a load at our Richmond, VA yard and have a feeling I may end up with an LTL load tonight. I have been told freight OUT of Richmond can be slow. We shall see. I have had three drivers from other companies read this thread and ended up going to orientation at Averitt. I hope they are doing well.
Well, a really good start to the week. Left out Sunday morning to finish a run to Dallas. Did some short runs around Dallas this morning and then got a load from Mount Pleasant, TX to Cordele, GA. A couple of good long loads. Glad they are keeping me rolling.
Looks like you got out in the nick of time. It got real nasty there today. [ame]http://youtu.be/agLN1Z7ROmE[/ame]
I sure did, Mustang. Yesterday I was about 4 miles from where it hit. And to think I was hoping to stay in Texas for a few days when I got this load to Cordele, GA.
Another good day. I got unloaded in 20 minutes in Cordele, GA and then got a load from Albany, GA to Tullahoma, TN. All was good until a Penske rental moving truck towing a pick up turned over on I-75 north bound. That had us backed up for a couple miles. Thankfully everyone was okay. Got as far as Chattanooga. Got to go home for a few hours and enjoy the family. Will deliver to the customer in the morning, about 90 miles out. I also got interviewed for our Averitt newsletter and had to have my pic taken for the publication. My grandson got a kick out of that. He'll be watching the mail very closely next month. Hope everyone is getting good miles. Keep it safe out there.
Well after my delivery in Tullahoma, I had to pick up a load in Morrison, TN. When I got there the load they sent me to get had already been picked up. They went searching for another load from the same location. Five hours later we got it. That is the longest I have had to wait on a load in awhile. Camping out in Rising Fawn, GA headed to Jackson, MS early tomorrow and then taking another load from Jackson to Aberdeen, MS. Then hopefully a load getting me home early Saturday morning. Over 3000 miles this week by the time I hit the Chattanooga terminal. No complaints there. Also, yesterday I got to spend the night at the Chattanooga terminal so I fired up my pick up truck and spent a few hours with the family at home. Nice midweek treat. Keep on truckin'!
It's been a few years since I've been there, but I used to really enjoy that BBQ place next door to the Pilot. Hopefully it's still there.
I didn't notice it, however it was raining like crazy and I made do with what I had in my truck for dinner. I will look for it next time for sure though. Delivered in Jackson, MS then had to go in to dispatch. I won the "randomly selected breathalyzer" lottery. That took the medical folks two hours. Had a few loads thrown at me but could not do them with the hours of service I had left. Finally got a load to our Montgomery yard that delivers in the morning. Then I grab a load there and turn & burn home to Chattanooga. Great week. Over 3,000 miles. No complaining from me that is for sure. Camped out at the Pilot in Meridian, MS.
