Brother, I was 35 when I signed the contract, 36 when the drill sgt's started busting my,,,well, you get what I am saying. I was the oldest in our Company, in Basic training. I was 6 months younger than our senior Drill Instructor. This was in 2004.

Det stands for "Detachment",,,meaning we were part of another unit which together, made up a company. So, we were the 1st Detachement. We were Combat Engineers, hence the Eng Trp and we were, at that time part of a new reorganiztion, 3rd Battalion of the Tennessee 278... I forgot to put a 2 in front of the 78...ooops.

Well, for one, I don't like Swedish meatballs.
For another, I don't have another field of interest at the moment.
For another, this job allows me to see various family members in different parts of the country more frequently than if I had a 'regular' job.

I mentioned IKEA because my sister and nephew both work there, so I know something of how they operate.

I am on the road because I really like to drive, because I am making more here than other places I have worked, because I can see family more often, because I like being on my own, because, because, because.

But I don't think that applies to you, bleee.

You see what you think of as glamour. The lifestyle as you imagine it, or want it to be.
You see it as a stop-gap in what you really want to do. Something to fill in the time, and let you experience a dream that really isn't real.

I think that you will simply be one person that adds to the turnover rate in the trucking industry.
Not to mention the wasted time and money spent in your training.
And that's if you don't make a fatal mistake in the process (for you, or someone else).

Well bleee, tonight ypu got your first real lesson in trucking. This is probably one of the worst sides of this business.

There are a lot of awesome guys in trucking. Unfortunately there also are those bitter, whiney, cry babies that nothing is ever right.

If they weren't in trucking, wherever they would be, it would be the same boo hoo hoo, wah, wah, wah.

The truth is this business is really not easy. People do it because they like it, and they make a good living at it. It suits their lifestyle.

In any business you will find the miserable ones in the bunch. It is really what you make out of it.

    Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.

You took the words out of my mouth!! Plus you have to make the best out of every situation, rather you like it or not.
