    Thats funny.

Hey bleee - these guys are not trying to rain on your parade. As a wannabe myself, I've found these folks to be invaluable in testing my thoughts and theories as I look forward to trucking.

I'm not a driver, but I am a planner and critical thinker, so let me see if I can be of some use. I imagine driving truck to be a little like being a farmer or rancher. It's a lifestyle, in that it isn't a job, it IS your life. If you are looking to do this for a bit, as a stepping stone, well I think you could find a more profitable stepping stone for the short term. Trucking in that case would be keeping you from your dream business that you are saving for. Driving has some pretty good upsides. I mean look at the forever changing view right out your office window (i stole that from someone else). But there are some potential drawbacks. A wise man once told me to always beware of conflicting goals. An example of that may be the girlfriend who wants your attention at home, and a career that requires you to be gone in order to be successful. Imagine the lifestyle and honestly look for potential problems. If you can make it balance out for you after careful examination, then go for it. I wish you all the luck in your choice.

Moosetek, I think your generalization is a little harsh for this young man.

I think he came here seeking information, and we should be as helpful as possible.

He may find down the road that this is not for him. Or, he may find that it s exactly for him.

But what he needs right now is better understand what it is like to be in this business.

A real mentor will show him the good and bad, and he can decide for himself.

And i really like to drive also i just drove to the east coast to visit fam i do that throughout the whole year. so why not get paid to see more things ? and driving is something i enjoy.
I can make more Djing 5 nights a week then ikea plus i get my full check no deductions

Please explain what glamour comes with driving a truck 7days a week the same place you sleep and eat! so that is irrelevant

I already do what i want to do, music is my passion i produce engineer and dj music locally and globally.

Thanks though the first person i can prove wrong with trucking

Thanks for the explanation. Only one branch wanted to talk when they found out I was over 30. Can't remember which one now, but they even tried to discourage me. I'm a greencard holder and not a citizen - maybe that had something to do with it. oh well - it all turned out - I feel it would be beneficial for all kids to serve a term out of high school, to learn some work ethic, discipline and respect. - probably best leave that for another thread though...

    Thanks!!
I like how you used that reference. i actually grew up on a farm and this is somethin i want to do rather then something that sounds good.
I have offers for other things including playing cfl football but to me its like this i want to do something i enjoy which is seeing different things and just traveling any way shape or form rather then me putting myself through something i dislike or going back the football route and re injuring myself and then i wont be able to do anything
