I drove box trucks, and then wanted to drive larger ones.

After high school drove a bob tail hauling gas and diesel. Left that to drive a mini bus around the big airport in Houston while going to community college. Went into sales, then management. Hated dealing with people, love driving trucks.

Worked for a small manufacturing company. They got bought out. Went to work for another small company. They got bought out,but was offered a corporate position but would have to move and didn't want to. Had a friend who drove and he basically talked me into it. Glad he did. First few months were kinda rough money wise but it got better. I have never been unemployed since unless I wanted to be. Oh yeah the buy outs and moving bit was in 1977 when the rust bowl got started. Seems like the more things change the more they stay the same. Lots of guys were out of work then due to layoffs, downsizing, companies being bought out. Country was in a recession. Truck driving was a natural progression as companies were looking for drivers. Anything about this sound familiar.

Well, let's see...Mom,waitress, dishwasher, line cook, buffet runner, unaccredited head chef, flat-bed driver, now trucker wife.

I loved driving, but SO much like being the passenger/photographer/navigator/vacation planner BETTER!! LOL

Being from St Joe, you might recognize some of the places I've worked.

Started at 11 babysitting neighborhood kids, then secretary in a pet supply company, Factory worker at a paper supply company that is now apartments, Typesetter at one of the many print shops that have since closed, policy processor at a big insurance company, office support at the State Office, Leasing Agent at an apartment complex, then went to the KC KS area to work in another office. As you can see, most has been office work. Too many bosses and not enough workers in those places. Decided I can't work with women anymore, and I was a dinosaur in the world of ever expanding clerical world. Technology was moving fast and I didn't have the education to keep up with all the college grads.
