If the government didn't make laws, nobody would discipline themselves. Especially truckers. Its really not all that bad. These laws don't really stop people from making money. Only stupidity

I don't understand how elogs level the playing field, other than making it easier for stupider people to drive truck, not something we really need. Why would you stop at 12 just to change log book pages, catch it up when you stop for the night or to put fuel in, I can see how it'd be nice for keeping track of ifta though.

Anybody who will give a little liberty for a little safety will have and deserve neither. Are you admitting to being too stupid to take care of yourself or make responsible decisions for yourself? There any other decisions you'd like made for you? You're just simply wrong about nobody going to discipline themselves and stop when they're tired, I drive as long as I want, someday it's 8 hours, sometimes it's 18. I know people who couldn't drive safely 8 hours a day, does that mean nobody should be allowed too? What exactly is the difference between someone who works in the hospital for 14 hours and then drives home and me driving truck 14 hours a day? And no the hos laws don't prevent any stupidity, if anything they encourage it, if you don't see how you clearly don't actually drive truck.

The main difference between someone working in a hospital and one driving truck is that one of them chose to enter a field of work that is regulated by the federal government and the other didn’t. I don’t get people that knowingly enter a regulated industry and then complain that there shouldn’t be regulations.

DOT stoppes me once after midnight. I didn't change over to the next day. He told me to go ahead and change it but since I was within my 14 he was going to let me go. He told me he could have wrote me up for log book not being current. Thank goodness he wasnt a douche for a DOT. Ever since then, I stopped to make it current or planned a half HR break before then to make it current. Paper logs or elogs though, lots of stupid people drive trucks. It levels the playing field because now everyone is forced legally drive within the laws, of course with the few, and the proud that still run paper.

I once got pulled over by local Cop while bobtailing. “ Where’s your plate”? On the front bumper! “Why isn’t it on rear of Vehicle”? Here’s your sign.

Okay. I'll answer all of your questions. Not one time did I ever say that I personally was too stupid to discipline myself. The fact that I can discipline myself is why the transition to electronic logs was so easy. There are enough truckers out here that cannot, which is really what prompted this mandate. You know this. It would be way too difficult for them to try and find all the bad truckers out hereo unfortunately it has to be a one size fits all mandate. As for people who work in the hospital for 14 hours and drive home, the difference is they don't have to drive nearly the distance truck drivers do.that's why they're not regulated, on top of that they work in a team environment.

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. I'd rather not try to argue or correct them. An inspection isn't the time for me to be aa dic. I'd like to get back on the road as quick as possible. They hold the switch regardless of and have the ability to make life difficult on me. I am not the type of guy who will dispute with someone that carries a gun lol

Greg is really really tired and is offered a nice 426 mile load that pays 7 bucks per mile.
It has to be there on time and there’s no time a nap.
    Will Greg drive tired?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
