Go ahead and believe what you’re told like a little sheeple.

Pretty obvious it’s not about safety when:
Fact 1. Carrier Safety record played now role in determining who needed the elog
Fact 2. The more trucks we get on elogs the more carnage there is
Fact 3. Mega officials are on record as saying it was done for clerical reasons

Rideandrepair, shogun and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

Its not about whether I believe or don't believe. I couldn't care less. It just doesn't matter. They put it into effect and nobody can stop them. Its slowly getting to a point where there will be no drivers that ever knew paper logs. "Sheepie?" Your terminology is funny. What types of animals are people who repeatedly fuss about things that are out of their control?

Greg drives a comfortable truck that is not governed, Greg can afford to pull into a rest area and take a nap when he wants.
Greg can make good time and eat on a table in a restaurant instead of his steering wheel.
Greg can afford to slow down to the speed limit in construction zones instead of mashing on it to keep on schedule. Greg can also slow down and drive according to conditions in that snow storm unlike the megas who are behind schedule.
    I could go on.

Youre not listening, I say pay attention, son. Am I not getting through that thick head of yours? *whacks you on the head with a baseball bat*

I am not trying to stop them. This discussion is not between me and the FMCSA. This is about correcting the assertion of SHEEPLE like yourself, that the Elog is for safety and that old trucks are driven only to get around E-logs. It's between Me and you and that other idiot that continues to propagate the lie that paper and old trucks are the cause of accidents. You see, you're really just a clueless truck driver spewing the BS that the ATA propaganda machine has published. This is because you're not, nor have you ever been, an employer of truck drivers and you have no idea what you are talking about.

What are you really that you don't know that term?

OOIDA is just as much to blame for it as the ATA in my opinion. When they chose to fight the first mandate for repeat HOS offenders based on their claims of driver harrasment all it did was make sure the FMCSA covered all their bases the second time around. Why they spent money fighting the first mandate is beyond me.

Not everyone drives an old truck to skirt the mandate but when you have people paying $90k for a 20 year old truck it’s pretty obvious that some do.

And just like being honest that the mandate isn’t about safety we also have to be honest that the only reason it puts small carriers at a disadvantage to large carriers is that it takes away their “flexibility”.

How does it affect small carriers in your opinion? There are loads and loads of small carriers still in business last I checked.

What's a new truck cost.....$150,000? $90k seems like the upper end but if that's a real number and everything on that truck has been gone through, it's still a better deal than a new one that costs 2x, is a maintenance nightmare and will need to be traded in three years. I would pay $90k for a new old truck AND RUN A ELOG before I bought a emission truck.
