I've never seen so much BS talk in my life. If some of you spent as much time and energy lobbying congress for sensible changes in the trucking industry as you do here spreading nihilist viewpoints and wildly exaggerating every conceivable topic, we'd all be better off and wouldn't be having this conversation. If you have this much time and banked money to spend here on TTR, I fail to see how eLogs should be a problem for you.

The cost of a compliant ELD is equivalent to the cost of a tire or two depending on what one you choose. Yes there are more expensive options, my old boss with 15 trucks chose Omnitracs because he and the office staff likes how it ran. So if someone says the cost of the ELD was a burden they’re likely on the way out anyway because that’s like saying having to replace a tire on the road was a burden.

Most ELD’s have the capability of emailing your previous logs to whatever email address the officer provides so an office staff isn’t needed to produce paper copies.

My previous company had a handful of drivers in their 50’s and 60’, including the owner who drives full time, and they all managed to figure out how an ELD works. I think old people are more tech savvy than you give them credit for. Look at all the old guys leased to Mercer who have been on ELD’s for years.

It’s been 371 days now and it’s clear that many people have figured out how to live with them. Record truck sales last year, everyone talking about what a good time it was to buy a truck. If you’re in a market where you have to compete with a mega you’re already at a disadvantage and would be at a disadvantage ELD or not. Maybe in another year this horse will be dead enough that it won’t need beaten anymore.

Also my brother said he logs out of his VDO and it’s never kicked him to drive or on duty time.

Second, you're not listening (takes the ball bat from you and returns your lick). I have repeatedly said that I don't care whether it's paper or electronic. I don't spew propaganda. When I say, "They say it's about safety, so I'll roll with it," that's all I'm doing is rolling with it. It's my version of condesceding sarcasm. You gotta love those people who think they are experts because they own a company, and when someone doesn't jump it their line of thinking, that person is " clueless truck driver." I'm far from clueless son. Very well educated about this industry. I understand how how it works. I CHOOSE not to be an owner operator or fleet owner. I would rather not have the headache. I don't care about the ATA or what they have to say. The reality is none of us will ever know the truth as to why the switch happened. All people do on TTR is read a bunch of trucker articles, some are factual and others are just blogs and spew other propaganda and speculation.

I like that KeepTruckin log..I find it to be flexible and I don't have that log out problem either. There was one time it kicked me on the drive line while I was asleep, but all I had to do was call safety and they fixed it, or told me what to do to fix. Then they started a ticket with manufacturers

If braindead puss’s were alive in the 1770’s the USA would still be a British colony

So then why did the non-braindead in the trucking industry not use the 5 years from 2012 to 2017 (actually closer to 5.5 years, July 2012 to December 2017) to get it stopped? Those that did nothing are just as guilty as the ones they accuse of rolling over and taking it.

Good point! They did nothing because there was nothing that could be done to stop it. They elected government officials to try and roll that back but trucking isn't that high on the list of priorities for our leaders. Everything is going paperless anyway. It would have happened one way or the other
