I've been driving a mixer for 28 years, haven't pulled a trailer in over 20. I plan to retire from it this year.

Unless there is some real bad #### at your company, I would recommend staying with Redi mix.

Seems you already have - what many are searching for,
but U just don't realize it yet. You didn't list any negatives?

Re-read your first post. What's not to like?
Your lifestyle will tell - if you are livin' large, and burning thru money.
Live like a miser for a few weeks, and see if you can make bank.
If you can save, I personally would stay put. Best of luck!

Little known fact, you can haul fuel for Gemini (Loves) with no experience. That does require a verified CDL school certificate with the standard 160 hours for your class A, but if you read their website carefully, it states you can be hired with no experience. I don't personally know anyone who's been hired without experience, but I heard it has happened depending on the companies needs.

But anyways if I was you I wouldn't be in any hurry to get rid of $27 an hour. Especially right now in this economy. If you go OTR for a year you can basically cut your hourly rate in half. That's the price of experience. There's always hidden pockets or outliers where you can do better, but most guys won't even come close $20 an hour their first year. I would say it's guaranteed you'll make less than $27 doing OTR with no experience.

If you do go OTR for the experience, go with a plan. Sell all your possessions, especially your car. And live in the truck for a year. Ditch rent and all your bills. Forget about your dog, and your girlfriend. It's not the worst decision but it's rough out there man.

I think TT experience is definitely gonna be what you want, if your only in it for a year, get your class A at a local community college (most companies will make you pay back the cost of your training/CDL in your first year and give you a bonus in the second, so it’s in your best interest. I’d imagine the requirement is primarily insurance based, but see if you can make connections now, apply, make calls, shake hands, see if you can’t find someone willing to give you a chance without the experience. How clean is your record? You’re young, but what’s your employment history like?
