Wow,Glad you got all of that out of you. I have been with 2 other companies in the last eight years. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.
TA is a great company to start out with. I was with them for over a year and they treated me like gold. I didn't always make what I wanted, because you are right, in part when you say, there are slow times. I never turned down a load. Drove day or night and where they wanted me without complaint. I reliezed what most don't get........It's not all about me. By the way I am not a company driver for TA anymore, I bought my own truck and stayed with them. That should say something! God Bless

TA is a good company!! I would still be with them if they had the account I was on.. They didn't get under bided or anything like that Hon closed there va warehouse down and moved it all to there GA warehouse...I was out of the PA yard and everyone there treated the drivers with respect.. And they paid well!! What more can you ask for??

Kevin I just don't get folks, I love driving truck, it's less of a "job" than anything I've ever done. Also I've not been with a better company. If you read all his posts you will see how his story changes. Also the bit about the lease, well TA's truck lease is done by a outside company. It's all about being responsible. So little of that anymore.

*The fuel surcharge will increase $0.5% for each .040 cents per gallon over $5.060.

The U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Energy Information Administration puts out a standardized fuel surcharge matrix such as the one I've copied and pasted above. As of August 12, 2013 the average cost of Diesel on the east coast in the New England states is about $4.04 per gallon. I've highlighted in red the fuel surcharge percentages that a O/O-driver should be receiving. The 36 percent of the cost of 4.04 per gallon would equal $1.454 per gallon, my question is what sort of fuel surcharge are you getting?

Because I'm certain that you're purchasing all the fuel, if you're a O/O?!?!

Wow, getting slammed by a bunch of new hires because of what I reported about something that began nearly 3 years ago.

I'm glad things are so wonderful at Transport America today. It must be nice to average 3,000 miles a week, and be treated like professionals.

Just remember, they were nice to me as well, right up until I reported a problem with the brakes on my rig. Now I'm driving a wheelchair.

    Watch your back.

OTR DRIVER and TRAINER (Current Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Transport Corporation of America full-time for more than a year
Pros – good starter company..to get your year or two years exp in...if your not married or have any bills good company to start with...decent trucks and trls..some good yards and some fair...
Cons – had to fight to get home for my home time...my dispatcher decided i didnt need any more advances so he on his own put in that i was to get no more cash advances..given a new truck and for 6 weeks couldnt shut it down due to elect short..so i was charged with the idle time even though i turned in my idle time request...so no bonus of any time...took over a year and a half before i was put up for pay review..almost lost my house 3 times due to no miles or low miles even after letting them know when i needed the miles...always talked about the yearly average not about what you were making or running for that week which is the following weeks payroll..was cussed out by night dispatch even though i did what they told me to do...fell off the truck and got hurt and was accused by dispatch of doing it on purpose..lol..right wanted a fractured skull and busted back...payroll saying they dont get your trips in for pay even though you have the trans flow date and time...they didnt care said they didnt get it so didnt pay till the following week so again almost lost the house...
Advice to Senior Management – get your mind back on the drivers and their needs and not lineing your pockets with money...get rid of the truck stops that have no parking and no showers and put the ones back that did..thought driver comfort was your big concern..cant prove by what i have seen
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Transport Corporation of America full-time for less than a year
Pros – Regional seems to actually mean regional. Newer trucks coming into fleet. Family attitude amongst drivers.
Cons – Cannot depend on support staff. Hometime often screwed up. Load pick up or delivery times often compromised by bad dspatch info. Faulty qualcomm equipment. Dispatch directions and qualcomm directions are as different as nite and day. Way too many old trailers that need to be disposed of immediately. Not enuff mechanics and shops close at 6pm, need to be open 24hours. Need truck wash stations at support centers. Need better tracking of trailers to prevent prolonged trailer searches.
Advice to Senior Management – When a driver says they can't take a load in the middle of the night because they are on their 10 hour break. Stop trying to talk them into parking at the shipper, wake up at midnite or 1am back up to the dock while on break, just to get the load, and then resume their break. Last time I checked that was illegal. Once that break starts, don't tell us we goota move that truck, so you can get your commision!
