That's why I give these drivers plenty of room around bridges, guess you can blame the driver who was passing the OS for this one.

I'm sure all the new hours of service of regs going into effect on July 01 will mitigate this kind of accident from ever happening again.
Said in jest, of course.
All we need now is for the White House to release a statement declaring, "we're going to get to the bottom of this and make sure sure it never happens again".amiller, RedForeman, Working Class Patriot and 1 other person Thank this. -

The container had part of a drill rig in it , the truck had an escort and all THE PROPER PERMITS for the route it was traveling and had just got off the bridge when it collapsed.

Does it have massive damage?
Otherwise, maybe the bridge was really bad.
Last time I was on it in December, I was not comfortable on it then.Rogerthat Thanks this. -
But IIRC...The top of the load looked about 2' higher than the top of the stacks....Which most stacks on CC rigs are around 13' from the ground to the tips..... A little high.......Even CO that has a non-permit height limit of 14' 6"....That would be a problem......To AZ which is 13' (Info according to the Truckers' atlas).....
Another thing to consider....I posted the WSDOT's approved alternate routes yesterday....It's possible in WA like CA, that some State Routes are considered "Yellow" if not "Black" and therefore, even a STAA rig wouldn't be allowed on them let alone, an OD load....
So the Carrier may have had no choice but to run I-5 all the way up through Bellingham and into Canada...Roadmedic Thanks this.
