I'm on I80 in PA right now heading towards long island NY and my GPS is trying to route me down 33 to i78 and I can't figure out why? Can I not take i80 across NJ into nyc? I don't see any restrictions on my road atlas? What gives? TIA.
You can go either way, it may be routing you around traffic delays or planning on sending you into Long Island across Staten Island. Yes, I-80 across NJ will take you to the George Washington Bridge, then you will take either the Throgs Neck or Whitestone Bridge into Queens, then the LIE (I-495) into Long Island. The tolls are cheaper to go through Staten Island so maybe that is why you are being routed down 33 to 78.
My Garmin won't route me across the GW either, it thinks there's low overpasses, You have to know when to ignore the GPS
Don't you have someone you can call for really fast help? Seems strange posting for that type of help before calling someone. If you don't have someone you can call, see if someone that responded here will give you their number for future use. Just a thought.
