It's doable but always be prepared. They will shut her down when it gets nasty so always plan accordingly and good luck to you.

The wind can be really bad, and it can get COLD!
When I ran out there a few times to Green River and back, it got to -30F outside. And they don't clean off the highways in the middle of the state, on 80,
they seem to like to just let it sit there and get snow packed, where it's flat for those 150 miles or so. Oh, they might have someone with a small plow on their pickup truck take a little bit off, but nothing heavy duty. There aint no one live out there hardly, so why bother, I guess is their perspective. -
-30* is balmy for WY...What's yer problem?
striker Thanks this. -
You should be ok. Maybe a little slow going at times. There is a phone number in your Road Carrier Atlas for Wyoming DOT and it is excellent for keeping track of weather and road conditions. It actually tells you the conditions by the mile marker. I used to keep it on speed dial!
Also once you start running back and forth a few hundred times you will be much more used to the conditions and know exactly what and where you have to be more careful with. It can be blue sky out there and you still have blizzard like conditions! Whatever you do make sure you are prepared. Have a good winter survival kit stored aboard and don't go across 80 with less than half a tank of fuel. If you do end up sitting for a day or two at a rest stop or wherever you won't freeze to death!Big Don Thanks this. -
First off EVERYBODY KNOWS it only snows w/heavy winds ONCE a year in Wy! Just that it is usually a pretty long storm--been known 2 last 4 for 3or4 months!! LOL
But seriously--like everyone else said nothin' that can't b handled--and u r gonna chain but probable less than u might think--which of course is going 2 depend on what u r running--type of trl weight tire type etc--- but like other job--IMHO$ is the key--if u feel the $ is right than go 4 it!
Just my $.02Lilbit Thanks this. -
Cuervo for this gal! Or some Jack Daniels!

Green Label Jack right?

That'll keep her tires spinnin!

A lot of truth, right there! Once upon time, about the only time they shut things down was during zero visibility. Now, with the higher traffic volume and increased volume of megafleet noobs and Chicago-based Volvo boobs, it takes 4 tries to reopen Sherman after a light snow squall!Working Class Patriot Thanks this.

"Hello, dispatch? This is Nik. I think I'm gonna be a little late..."
Working Class Patriot and Logan76 Thank this.
