Hey Knuckledragger sounds like you are in the same place as I am (been reading and gathering data from TTR) but I think today I have decided a direction. Meeting with SNI rep in Houston tomorrow to see what he has to offer. Still unable to decide bulk or van although the have some nice paying tanker jobs listed on the website.

    knuckledragger Thanks this.

Jar Head owns his own truck....sooooooo, there's $650 a week at least he's not paying. That said, I've got 20 months left on my '09 Cascadia w/ about 535000 miles on it and it will be mine. So, I will fall out of $650 a week......better stated, I will give myself a $650 a week raise.

I'll try to screen shot my mobile app settlement tomorrow and try to post it but not sure if it will work on this iphone .. I don't have a weekly truck note so that's where my numbers seem higher than some etc . But I also don't hump it hard I'm learning as I go still week by week . I'm sure my numbers will rise as I get better with the board .

honestly, it took me about a year to gather up all (most) the bouncing balls......there are just so many variables. But, that said, I made good money over the year, but there were weeks that I hated my decisions as well.

Well, knuckledragger, you certainly have opened a can of worms with this question. To begin there is the potential to earn large gross revenue with Schneider IC choice. It is also true one can do the same with other companies. How would you like to earn gross revenue of $6000.00 for one load out of CA? That certainly would cover some expenses and pay some bills. You will not do that at Schneider. But that's not a problem. Trucking is not a one shot deal.

I have fellow associate IC friends who consistently gross 4-5 grand a week. One drives long for 4 days and is off 3 days. Two of those days are at the house. He nets about $1700.00-$2000.00. But this net figure does not reveal his other expenses out of the truck. The gross figure does not reflect his truck payment (if he has one).

Another variable will always be your fixed and variable expenses. If one owns their truck or has a small payment of lets say $1200.00 per month then the earnings reflected at net will be high. But if one has a high fixed expense lets say $875.00 plus insurances per week then the net revenue will be much less, probably between $700.00 - 1200.00 depending on one's fuel cost (one variable expense).

I know a Texas IC whose truck is paid for but he just spent thousands of dollars on an air conditioning unit, a thousand dollars on a new driver side seat and a 300 amp/watt alternator. He owns a '05 Freight-shaker. If your truck is newer it will be covered under warranty for most major repairs avoiding out of pocket expenses.

Another variable is the connecting of loads from one location to the next. One needs to string their loads to maximize revenue while minimizing expense. No easy chore, but attainable with practice and advise from fellow IC operators at Schneider.

Schneider is a huge operating machine. It has three thousand IC's and 13,000 company drivers in their van division alone. They move freight. I've heard to the tune of 6 million miles a day. They are huge. But it's operations is fragmented and compartmentalized. One needs to understand this. DBL's and ICA's are out of touch. The computer rules the freight lanes. Sensitivity is sometimes lost. But I must admit that at the upper level in Green Bay the people are friendly and personal and humane - more so than with other companies I have work with. It all depends on the individual. But even individuals have aggendas.

If one is an IC at Schneider he is a businessman first and foremost. Do you want to earn $2000.00 for 800 miles or $1100.00 for 350 miles or $3500.00 for 2500 miles? The choice is yours to make.

My son and I have been teaming for only about two months but I can definitely see the potential in owning my own truck. Are their IC teams? We currently run about 1100-1300 miles a day and average about $950 a week take-home. How can I look at the load board?? I've been trying to find it but no luck. I'd luck to study to see what's out there.

Any advice from experts will be greatly appreciated.
