Thank you again to all those who responded. Chains? Never seen that animal on any of our trucks or at the shop. I did call afterhours Dispatch to enquire about several matters at 9:00 pm on the evening in question. Their response to my phone message was the usual one, ...never heard from them. At 7:30 am on Sunday I decided that the roads were good to go and made an uneventful 6 hr drive, fueled up, and parked my truck at the yard.

I run on the 7 day, 70 hr. schedule, and have been working 6 days per week for the last three months. When I completed my trip on Sunday I had a 'tidy' 60 hrs. logged with loads scheduled for Monday morning. One of my questions to 'afterhours' Dispatch was what they wanted me to do about Monday's loads, as, as far as I was concerned, I couldn't drive again until I did a re-set. As mentioned earlier, I never did hear from them. 6:30 am. this morning I called Safety and explained the circumstances to him. He told me I'd done the right thing, and that I should just call Dispatch and carry on. "What about the 7day/seventy hr. cycle?" I asked. He told me that, as I'd only logged 60 hrs. last week I could work 10 hrs today, and would have to take 24 hrs off tomorrow. Shaking my head I asked, "But that would be 70 hrs. in 8 days, and shouldn't I have a 36 hr. re-set first?" Safety informed me that, no, I was good to go, and to get in touch with Dispatch.

Called Dispatch and told them what Safety had said, but expressed my concern that, by my reading of the HOS rules, (Cannuck, eh?), I couldn't legally drive again 'til I'd taken a 36 hr. re-set. Dispatch told me to call Safety again and double check. So I called him that while I sort of understood what he'd told me, I was having trouble figuring out where an 8th day fit in a 7 day schedule, and read him the HOS rules pertaining to the question. Safety then said that it had been a long time since he'd had anything to do with HOS logging, and that I was probably right; take the day off. Now I have to call Dispatch about 2:00 pm and get my marching orders for tomorrow.

Seems to me this is a good place to get myself in trouble when I'm not sure how the rules work, ...and nobody at the Company seems to be either. Oh well, time to see if the snow blower will start.
