    Cap gun.

We're pretty strict on handguns. Rifles/shotguns aren't overly strict.

It must have been in Canada, I never heard of them firing a pistol on the Alaska show. From what I understand the company featured on the Alaska lost at least one contract, just from some of the stupid comments they had the drivers make on the air. The oil companies are super strict on safety, and didn't like the bad press the show was giving out, they would have lost it if they had been shooting out of a window. lol

Maybe it was a flare gun?
It's a practical tool in the bush, might save your life some day.

My best buddy is a bit of a pyromaniac, I suspect Hugh Rowland is too.
While rummaging in the shed at the cabin one day my pal found a flair gun kit, I think there were 3 different coloured flares, each has a different meaning I seem to recall.
I told him it was a bad idea, but the temptation was too much for him to bear so he loaded a red flare and fired it off over the lake.
A short time later there were ministry planes and helicopters flying over the lake and then a police car and a ministry vehicle show up at the cabin and they chewed out my pal in a big way.
    I love watching him squirm!

    Wow!!!

This stirred up a lot more responses than I ever thought possible. Quite a community you guys have here.

That British dude an earlier poster mentioned that wanted to go up and see the slope and all the things to do there.... I wanted to do the same after my first salmon season and the plane ticket price told me "no." But when I went to Dutch Harbor I pretty much had a good idea of what was up there for fun.

Amazing my current license is Alaska. :) I assume the pay is low six-figures for any driver doing this year round. Would that be about right?

What is the schedule like? IDK what the likelihood of being hired out of state by Lynden would be... Honestly IDK what the likelihood being hired locally to haul water or sand would be. But here in ND some haul companies are still offering rotational schedules: 6 weeks on, 2 off. Things of that nature. Even housing for out-of-state people 6 years after the boom.

Any of that apply to Lynden? Come up to Fairbanks for 4 weeks, go back home to Anchorage, Wasilla, etc for 2? .... Oooo I see it is probably job dependent.

    Thanks again!
