Congrats to your good deeds. I give you credit. It's not always that simple for everyone. As I said repeatedly, we don't everyone's situation. Sometimes it's easier just to take a gamble and break the law when you are not fortunate enough to have it like that. I know if it's life and death, and time is limited, I will do WHATEVER it takes to look after my family and me.

    Speeding is illegal.

    Driving drunk is illegal.

I think we can all agree that drunk driving is significantly worse than speeding.

We may also be able to agree that, in some cases, speeding is justifiable.

Since the Clinton era, we have significantly increased the authorized strength of Border Patrol. We have increased the scope and authority of ICE. We have spent a boat load on physical security . We have dramatically increased deportations since Obama. Yet they still come - why and how?

The answer is simple - economics. As long as they can get good jobs, they will come. If you crack down on the Americans who knowingly employee illegal workers - fines AND jail time, they will stop coming. The lowest level of illegal immigration happened in 2009 and 2010 because the economy was cruddy and they couldn't get jobs.

As to how - even though the authorized strength of Border Patrol is up, actual numbers are not. They struggle to recruit and have a high attrition rate. If you grew up in the Bronx or the North Woods, do you really want to live in a southern boarder town? I don't care how good a fortress is if the people manning it are under trained and under staffed. Bush II, Obama, and now Trump have all used military personnel to beef up Border Patrol's numbers.

We know the problems , we know the solutions, but we don't follow thru.

    Great points.
By the way not only did they all most stop coming during that time period they were leaving.

I live in a city thats inundated with illegal aliens.
I remember rejoicing when watching the reports on the local news.

I dont know about breaking the law. I dont like doing that, but one thing that bothers me even more is going to a Mexican food joint, is going to a Mexican food joint that calls themselves "authentic ", then once I commence shoveling away at the chips and salsa only to find what??? Its actually Pace Picante Sauce and dam Tostitos!!!

Makes me madder than a wet hen. I just wanna round them all up, tell them to grab their jumping beans and Mexican blankets, and kick rocks back to Juarez.

This!!!! You pull up to an establishment. You see the Impalas on Dayton’s in the parking lot thinking oh yeah, Mariela is working. Bust up in there and hear “Jose Cuervo you are a friend of mine” on the radio. I’m thinking all I need now is to smell sweat and stale weed eater gas and I know it’s legit.

What do we find? Basically an Americanized southwestern style restaurant with Tostitos and Pace picante sauce as previously mentioned. I’d rather go to a Taco stand near Laredo where Isabel is selling authentic chicken tacos and weaving baskets than that. I’ve watched enough Dora the Explorer to know a legit Mexican when I see one.

Look, I won’t ever swim across the Rio Grande. I will never ride 20 deep in a Ford Expedition to a vegetable farm in South Carolina, but don’t think I can’t tell a fried corn shell from Kroger bought Old El Paso junk.

Well you know those restaurants have to do that to accommodate the people that are scared to try new things. My brother went to China while studying abroad years back. He said the Chinese food is seasoned and sweetened the way it is here because that's the way to appeal to American taste buds. Egg rolls don't even exist there he told me.
