More info I'm on a gravel driveway with a area of about 1-2 inches of broken ice around my tire and I'm just spinning away and can't get traction

How long have you been there? Just pull up? Parked overnight? Truck and trailer?

If you can get some loose gravel to put in front of your tires that might help. I would wait for 10-15 minutes before trying again. Sometimes when you tires cool a little your traction will improve. At any rate you are probably not the first truck to get stuck there so the people there may be able to help.

If you have a manual transmission and are light, try starting out in 4th or 5th gear. But engage the clutch very slowly.
You want the tires to spin slowly.

I unfortunately got an automatic but I try to make it do something like that when I get stuck again.
it's kind of ironic the only place with ice is where I get stuck guess I need more experience in snow/ice
