6 months at Schneider National Dedicated Flatbed
Scale from 1-10 ( 10 being Excellent)
Onboarding = 3
$12.00 per hr, roughly $350.00 per week
1 week. Hotel was horrible and smelled like dope 24/7
Management= 2
Very Inexperienced and had no CDL, couldn't answer any questions related to equipment, driving or regulatory.
Dispatching=6
Decent but annoying
Onboard GPS and ELD equipment = 3
Incredibly inaccurate and software was horrible.
Maintenance Department = 2
Had 4 trucks in a 6 month period due to maintenance related issues. No communicate regarding repair status.
Breakdowns, roadside repairs 24/7=9
Goodyear provided excellent response and repair times.
Weekly pay=7
Decent miles/ dedicated account, very inconsistent (1400-2300).
Avg $900-$1500.00 per week
Manager was 25 years old. Preferential treatment, preferred routes given to his favorites. Drivers not accepting routes because of terrain (hills) in WV/VA lol.
Overall Schneider experience= 3
Never missed a single day or load. Only late for a delivery twice, due to routing mistakes by management/dispatching.
Schnieder treats there drivers like ####, the only employees that actully generate revenue lol.
I'd consider my experience bad....(Schneider)

I started out with Schneider....& stayed there for almost 2 years.
The thinking was....the better carriers will (later) want a more stable job history.
Some other flatbed carriers will take you with 6 months prev experience; still others will want a year (or even more) -- so it depends on what you want to do with your CDL (& with whom).
With 6 months done at Schneider -- you could transfer to a different acct/division....& "sample" a different type of freight; depending on where you are, "Big Orange" will let you sample them all (sorry -- no car hauler work, at least yet).
Experience with different freight types will later make you a more attractive job candidate -- especially in a tight job market (&/or with stiff competition).

The only dispute I have is with your post about "best loads going to favorite drivers."
You have no idea. NONE. You weren't there...ever.
But the rest of it is pretty spot on.scythe08, Puppage, Left Lane Wayne and 1 other person Thank this. -

Stevie Wonders could see what was going on lol..but they can sxxk my bxllsLTL Bull Thanks this. -
Graphic images notwithstanding -- if you are unhappy with your treatment at the dedicated flatbed gig -- transfer to a different division with a different freight/trailer type.
That worked well for me -- & without all the hassles of changing carriers....or stigma of later being labelled a "job hopper".
Schneider offers (depending on where you are):
- dry van
- refrigerated (aka, "reefer")
- intermodal (a "must try"...if you like trains )
- tanker (requires both tanker & hazmat CDL endorsements -- TWIC card preferred there, as well)
- other flatbed work (I have seen Schneider pulling conestoga, also)

Did ya land somewhere else?

I ran for SNBC with a brand new SFI truck, no money down. Absolutely LOVED it, because I dispatched myself and in that space, you don't have to speak to ANYONE, at Schneider, unless something goes wrong. Had that happen a few times, but I don't need to be babysat and told what to do. If you're motivated by money, and my goal was to pay the truck off and take care of my family, Schneider Bulk is the way to go. Get your own truck if you don't wanna lease purchase. That's what I did after I completed my lease. I went back to Heavy Haul, but that's another story.
Knucklehead and TB John Thank this.
