Hanadarko, are you able to initiate scan from the iEpson Print app? If so, do your scans become PDF and save into your library? I am wondering if I even need a laptop at all. I am not a web junkie. Just want to print permits, scan receipts, get/send mail and occasionally post to the forums. Recommendations on how to do that without resorting to purchasing a laptop?

Print and Scan While On The Go
Turn your tablet or smartphone into a powerful office assistant. Access your files from Box, DropBox, EverNote and Google Drive and print them from anywhere1. Or you can scan from a nearby Epson printer, then email or share your files online. iPrint turns your mobile device into a powerful productivity tool.
I already have a laptop for my E-log program, so I never looked into this app. -
Did you establish your wi-if network with an inexpensive wi-if router, Apple Airport express, or something like that?
-
I explained it in my above post....

What I do is turn on the iPhone 'hotspot' and have the Epson/Macbook connect up to it.
This works perfectly. I then have a local wireless network and thanks to the iPhone, I also have internet.
The iPhone does all of the work....wifi, lan connectivity and internet.
If I cannot get "hotspot" to work, I can still physically connect the Macbook to the printer and scan/copy/print as needed at least. Thats good for printing daily logs. -
Ohhhhhhh....I get it! Sorry I am slow on the uptake. I finally understand that the iPhone is serving as your "router." Duh. Thanks for your patience, I appreciate it. This stuff is like rocket science to me. I've been using Macs for 10 years now after the prior 20 using PCs. I forget that Macs don't require me to over think things like the PCs...yet I keep falling into that mode, LOL, palm-face slap.

It's ok. Some people gloss over posts initially.
PM me if u got any other questions....but what I have works very well for me at least.
No wires either- -
they have a app to scan with just your phone, just take a pic (android has it) i would think they have one for the iphone

I use a usb cable with my all-in-one because it's dead simple and works every time. I don't have enough time for fiddly network apps that always seem to be designed to work as-if that's the only thing you ever use your hardware for.
In other words, wireless apps have a tendency to step on each other and cause endless time wasted troubleshooting the system. In my case I have too many HP devices. If you install more than one sometimes it seems nothing works as it should. -
Its called genius scan. It works well but I wouldn't want to scan a whole lot with it. Its sort of cumbersome taking a good enough picture sometimes. I use it for receipts for tax purposes that are going to be unreadable in a year.
