Well, if one is travelling the NY Turnpike, one merely needs to completely travel it regardless of whether one has the hours available to do so since one cannot effectively sleep in NY state anymore without some type hassle from the constabulary.
Of course travelling East is no help as Mass. has their own rules about Idling as well, so does CT., RI., VT., NH., Maine when one can FIND SOMEPLACE to park as IS FUN from my recollections of travels in these states.
Winter travels up there exacerbate the problems.

California has idling restrictions because of the smog, yet EVERYWHERE 4-wheelers outnumber trucks but trucks are the problem?!

Anyone been harrassed in Tennessee lately because of the Truck speed reductions and the Environmental pollution tickets handed out along with speeding tickets?? Are these Environmental tickets still being processed?
The last time(three weeks ago) that I drove thru TN. Westbound, I was NOT doing the new speed limit in Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis of 55, as no other truck was either except of course in required highway turns and related.
Truck speed limit used to be 70 in these cities yet now it is 55, so how many drivers ACTUALLY travel this new speed?? And why when 4-wheelers go zinging by at 70+?!

Wherever I am, if it is cold or hot outside I shall have the engine running for the appropriate comforting inside. I'll accept the ticket for wanting to STAY ALIVE yet I'll continue to do that which garnered the ticket.
Idle-Aire is fine for those that like them or can find them, yet for me this system costs too much and isn't really that good. Plus I HATE TO BACK out of a stall, at an angle.
Idle-Aire could have been designed better to allow for backing into the stalls, but I guess that made too much sense which is why it is designed the way it is. What do I know as I'm not an Engineer.
New Ventures Engineer and Architect are not even related.

    Talking about New York...

I think this was in 83, well a long time ago I was hauling freight fairly regulary out of NYC. Had a load outbound to Houston TX. Gal there at the office kept telling me I was going to house-ton. That's how she pronounced Houston. Wasn't til I saw the invoice with the zip that I knew where I was going. She sounded an awful lot like Fran Drescher.

Well for 1 thats totally Illegal and Not Even Something that should be Suggested.. 2 theres a DOT Scale at the Welcome center in Penslyvania on I-90... Not only that what if you get into a Accident, thats another black eye for truckers everywhere, Put that Aside what about if you use an Electronic Tolling Device like EZ Pass it Records the Time and date when you toll much like your toll Receipt that you turn in to your company when they reinburse it,

Well dont kidd yourself your Safety department, at least here at US Xpress matches those things up to our logs Cheating isnt an option nor should it ever be one...

I'm sorry you feel that way i truly am maby after i finish this post you will think different, keep in mind i got off light what ever the outcome i could have always gotten the Idiling Ticket with Astronomical Fines, and i dont know a single trucker that has money to just Throw away..

Yes i am I live in Knoxville TN, and I set my Cruse Control to 58mph and go on down the road, i watch everyone blow by me and many times they are just fine and nonething happens, but when its Quota time and you like speeding well you can make a nice charitable donation to the State of Tennessee.. I dont understand why its so hard not to speed.. IF you schedule your loads so tightly not to allowe for Unexpected problems or lower speed limits then your not Scheduling Correctly with your Dispatcher..

besides Breaking the Speed limit when your going through the city only gives us a bad Image to the motoring public because you cant speed with out tail-Gating, and that just pisses off everyone... and i HATE people who Tailgate my Truck espically Truckers when your Sooo Close to me that i can only see 1/2 of your trl behind me in my rerar View, What if i slam on my brakes and you hit me...

NOW YOUR RETARTED WAY OF DRIVING JUST GOT ME IN TROUBLE AS WELL AS YOU.. you know why because my Safety dept is going to ask why didnt i leave myself an out or why werent you scanning your mirrors what did you do to let that trucker know he was to close and he needed to back off.. i may not get a DOT accident but i will get Punished by my company because of your Piss Poor Actions!

(and this isnt personaly to Creberus but to Anyone out there who thinks that 2-3 seconds of following distance is just fine):smt012 :smt011

the only reason idleaire is made to pull in and not back in, is it would cost them more money to do it the right way. They get 2 trucks nose to nose instead of tail to tail which would require more steel work.

well my Court Date for November 21'st came and went, Nonething i have a 3rd court date set for December 20th, i was getting worried that i would have to pay for each court date but i was assured that the court doesn't assess a court fee until a verdict is reached, I'm still preying for a reduction to a parking ticket and a fine i can afford...

I have been thinking about sending a copy of my statement and ticket to my Representative and congressman in Tennessee, to see what they can do to help me out, i am a registered voter, maybe i can get them to help Tennessee Trucking companies to get equipped with APU's that would be helpful

thats typical for NY, 4-5 court dates.....

Idling is not a point offense I believe, so a parking violation would be a lateral move.

You really should show up, if they try to postpone it then, ask for a dismissal on the grounds that you have not been given a speedy trial. In NY only 2 good ways out, parking ticket or a dismissal, and if they are not ready for court judge unusually grants a dismissal.

  10. I am not an expirienced trucker, any maybe my foul attitude will change once I am. If I ran out of hours in NY, I would park legally, call the hiway patrol or county sherrif's office. Once I explained that I was out of hours and the temp is too cold or hot to safely sleep I would demand a ride to the station and a room with a bed to sleep safely in (likely a cell). After the eigth or ninth time they had to drive out and pick up a trucker-sicle and give him a warm bed, they would stop noticing idling trucks.
