It's so easy to set up, you can pop it in your window and be hooked up in less than 5 minutes. You can watch cable with a clear picture for 30 min or an hour before you go to sleep. If you have to wait for a load, like a lot of drivers do with these big companies, it probably really comes in handy. So if the company pays for it it's probably worth it. Also you can call ahead and have them reserve a parking spot for you.
But I don't like it because it takes away so many parking spaces. An Idle-Aire parking space takes up about 2 normal spaces if you take into account everything. The Pilot in E. St Louis is a case in point. The problem of parking is agreed to be one of the major problems facing the trucking industry now and is expected to get much worse. So why come in and wipe out a bunch of parking spaces? The reason, Al Gore.

Perhaps anyone who has a "10-HOUR" Break or a "34-Hour Reset" or has to set all (or part of a) weekend, because they have to deliver on Monday. -
Ever hear of the DOT mandated 10 hrs off and the voluntary 34 hr restart?? -
The worst thing about Idle-Aire is having to back out of your parking spot.
-
I find that part easy. never had much of a problem backing out of a spot even with a crowded truck stop.
-
What is idle-air? Who pays for it (if you even have to)?
Thanks for any replies. -
do a search for idle air on this site there are already threads started about this question.
