For the week I'm at 1150 miles and 57% idle. I can't lay under my blankie with all the time I got to kill. I don't feel like standing in the truckstop all day either.

Ive also found out that my idle time actually goes down until after 5 min of idling...then it goes up. Before the 5 min, the PTO status says "WARM" and after 5 mins, it says "LONG IDLE". I would shut it down right before 5 mins, then start it back up, and repeat. From 99.99%, Im down to 87.25% with 1hr 49mins and 0 miles driven.

In the winter I dont mind bundling up, but in the summer in the south I NEED A/C! Not to mention the mosquitoes down here! And if you sleep with your windows open aren't you worried about being safe?

Trucks idling without APU (Auxillary Power Unit) at 50% idle.
Qualcomm vs Driver's Actual time that he lives in the truck/wk.
+
The Real Idle% that Trucking Companies try to get drivers to
lower their idling down to.
***************************************************************
1.)Trucking Company's & Qualcomm's Way is to look at only the
Engine Time that the truck is turned on
Engine Time 8400min. 140hrs. 140hrs+0min.
Driving % per week 50.00%
Driving Time per week 4200min. 70hrs 70hrs
Driving Time per day 600min. 10hrs 10hrs
Miles driven at 60mi/hr. 600mi.
Idle % per week 50.00%
Idled time per week 4200min. 70hrs 70hrs
Idle time per day 600min. 10hrs 10hrs
That averages out to 10 hrs/day idling! That is still not 12 hrs.
as you will see in the next example. YOU WOULD HAVE TO RUN
EXTREMELY HARD TO GET THIS AND IT DOESN'T LEAVE ANY TIME FOR
EATING, SHOWERS, LAUNDRY, GETTING BILL OF LADINGS FROM
SHIPPERS OR TAKING IN BILLS TO RECIEVERS, PRETRIP OR POSTTRIP
INSPECTIONS, MAINTENANCE ON TRUCK OR TRAILER, DOING ALL YOUR
PAPERWORK, SCANNING YOUR DOCUMENTS. THEY DON'T CARE IF YOU
HAVE TO WAIT AN EXTRA 6 HRS OR SO BEYOND YOUR 10 HR. BREAK TO
PICK UP THAT NEXT LOAD, LAID OVER ANOTHER DAY WITH NO LOAD,
WAITING TILL LATE IN THE DAY TO PICKUP A LOAD OR UNLOAD WHEN
YOU GOT THERE VERY EARLY. THEY DON'T EVEN CARE IS YOU HAVE
YOUR PET, SPOUSE, CHILD OR EVEN A BABY ARE WITH YOU IN THE
TRUCK AND THEY STAYED IN THE TRUCK WHILE YOU DID YOUR WORK
OUTSIDE OF THE TRUCK!
THEY WOULD STILL WANT THE TRUCK OFF!
****************************************************************
NOTE:
TO CONVERT ENGINE HRS & MIN. TO ALL MINUTES.:
MUTIPLY WHAT'S IN THE PARENTHESIS FIRST THEN ADD THE
REMAING MINUTES TO YOUR RESULTS.
(60 MIN. X 140 HRS.) + 0 MIN. = 8400 MIN.
DRIVING %: 100% - IDLE% = 50% OR 0.50 OR .5
DRIVING TIME PER WK: MUTIPLY ENGINE TIME IN MIN. X DRIVING % :
8400 X 0.50 = 4200 MIN./WK
DRIVING TIME CONVERTED TO HRS:
DIVIDE DRIVING TIME IN MIN./WK. BY 60 MIN. :
4200 / 60 = 70 HRS/WK.
TO GET IDLE %: SUBTRACT 100% (1.00) MINUS DRIVING %:
CONVERT PERCENT TO DECIMEL BY MOVING THE DECIMEL POINT 2 PLACES
TO THE LEFT.
EXAMPLE:
100% = 1.00 OR 01.00, 87.63% = .8763, 9.24% = .0924,
50% = 0.50 0R .5
01.00 minus .50 driving = 00.50 or 0.5 or 50% idling
IDLE TIME PER WK.: MULTIPLY ENGINE TIME IN MIN. X IDLE % :
8400 X 0.50 = 4200 MIN./ WK.
IDLE TIME PER WK. CONVERTED TO HRS.:
DIVIDE IDLE TIME/WK IN MIN. BY 60 MIN. :
4200 / 60 MIN. = 70 HRS./WK.
IDLE TIME PER DAY: DIVIDE IDLE TIME/WK. IN MIN. BY 7 DAYS :
4200 / 7 = 600 MIN./DAY
IDLE TIME PER DAY CONVERTED TO HRS.:
DIVIDE IDLE TIME/DAY BY 60 MIN. :
600 X 60 = 10 HRS./DAY
************************************************
2.)The Truthful Way is by looking at the amount of time the
driver lives in the truck per week.
EXAMPLE:
Driver's avg. hours lived in truck/wk 10080min. 168hrs 168hrs
IDLE % ex. 50% 50.00%
Idle time allowed per week 5040min. 84hrs 84hrs
Idle time allowed per day 720min. 12hrs 12hrs
That's 12 hrs/day that drivers should be allowed
to idle their trucks!
************************************************
3.)THE REAL IDLE % THAT DRIVERS ARE ACTUALLY ALLOWED TO IDLE
USING DRIVER'S 168 HRS THAT HE/SHE LIVES IN THE TRUCK WITH
QUALCOMM'S IDLE TIME PER WEEK
Driver's avg. hours lived in truck/week 10080min 168hrs
ACTUAL IDLE % PER WEEK 41.67%
Qualcomm's Idle Time per week 4200min
THE IDLE% IS REALLY 41.67% NOT 50% LIKE QUALCOMM +
EVERYONE ELSE WANTS YOU TO THINK. IT'S BASED ON
DECEPTION + GREED FOR MORE MONEY!!!
COMPANIES ALWAYS TAKE FROM THE COMMON FOLKS INSTEAD
OFTHE REAL CULPRIT LIKE THE OIL COMPANIES.
TRUTHFULLY, THIS IS THE TRICKLE DOWN EFFECT. THEY
HAVE THE RESEVOIR OF WEALTH + YOU GET THE TRICKLES OF
MONEY LIKE THE DROPS THAT COME OUT OF A FAUCET !!!
Isn't it enough that they stole a lot of driver's
pay when it comes to actual miles driven + now this!!
Doesn't dispatch realize they have to give the drivers good
miles everyday so that they can idle their trucks more?
This is pure insanity, utter madness. Qualcomm, you claim
knowledge is power but it's not knowledge when it's
based on deception & greed!
It's based on the harder you run the more money they make
and the more drivers can idle their trucks.
Tired of being very hot or too cold to the bones and sick of turning
the truck on & off, on & off and losing sleep. Strange how they
sometimes throw safety out the window in the name of money.
Harrassing & threatening drivers is a safety hazard. I causes
distraction and stress.
