They probably could now, since they dissolved - all the capital investment can now be written off.

It cost the millions to build these units and they were trying to recoup investment and pay off loans in a tough economy.

It just seems like a terrible waste of money to tear them down as I doubt the equipment itself wouldn't even cover the cost of removing it.

I always thought the separate overhead air/heat/power unit design would be it's downfall - as a large trailer based and self contained unit with ductwork would be for more efficient long term ... IMO.

I never used it, I was going to one time at the T/A in Ohio but when I pulled up and removed the cone they had blocking the space the guy came out with such a attitude I decided never to use them and moved on to another truckstop without idleair.

Not with the usage limits and overcharge fees they have hidden in the fine print. I do find hotels and unsecured private connections useful, though. I don't do that often, my aircard call pull 3mb/s with a 5gb monthly cap but I can wait a week or so to get home and download whatever I want on the 10mb/s cable line.

Those idleaire lines would get pretty clogged up at times with all the traffic and it made my day harder trying to figure out where to stop just because the place had idleaire. Now I can idle as much as I want and I have the aircard so it doesn't matter. Until they outlaw all idling everywhere.

Me I guess I'm one of the one's that will miss them.
I used them when fuel was so high it was cheaper than running the truck.
I liked the wifi. and the T.V. It was nice when you were stuck some where and it was 100 deg. outside, but a nice 70 inside the cab.

Hopefully now someone will buy it and bring it back at a price you can afford.

Or it will be, Sonny I remember when you could park at a truck stop and hook up to a thing called Idileair.

Anyone wan't to buy the window thing, for a 9200i cheep. lol

I will miss it. Company paid for it and I always tried to use it in California where you aren't supposed to idle. I run a CPAP on 12V in my truck and need to idle if I can't plug it in to 110.

I'm sad to see them close operations. I used the service quite a bit and found it quite relaxing to sleep without a vibrating truck under me, trucks on either side of me at high-idle, and still able to be warm or cool, watch cable TV and surf the Internet. Yes the cost was a little high BUT I made a heck of a lot of money in bonuses by not idling.

And I'd bet with the onslaught of states passing no-idling regulations, along with hefty fines for getting caught, the drivers who gleefully proclaim "I told you so" today would like to be warmed or cooled by an Idleaire type technology in the future and not pay those fines.

Now what about all those drivers who had credit time (cash paid) on their Idleaire cards? Any chance they will ever see a refund from the company or will it take a class-action lawsuit to get some attention?

btw, Idleaire is not answering the phone and you have till February 4th to email a request to them for a printout of your receipts.

    Texas-Nana Thanks this.

Well you must be talking about me!

Idleaire did nothing but occupy space... Much needed space at the time parking was at a premium! For every idleaire parking spot, it took 1.5 normal parking spots!

As for me getting tickets for idling.... I never have when I needed to idle. I've idled in every state that has a law against it & never once been bothered. And as for future possible tickets...... Well I have a generator scheduled to be installed on my truck this summer! So I honestly don't think I'm going to be crying about tickets!
