Zero degrees is not extreme cold. Freightliner Detroit recommends it below -24.
But yes, todays engine do have better thermal management than the old ones.

I know it’s a big difference than going camping every now and then and running a generator every night OTR, but I’ve had it for 6 years without issue. Mine is a Champion brand.

commiefornia there banning APU'S or trying to. i don't thing there banning generators though you have to pay a dmv fee if it's bought in LA LA land. they want all electric. can't wait to see that. there's no way we can live on farts and sunbeams. and nuclear power is a cleaner option than solar panels and windmills and nuclear has les impact on the enviroment than solar and wind. like i say buy the genny outside of LA LA land no problems.

i wouldn't be interested in investing in an apu for a truck that has 400k to 500k miles on it. i know that things are going to go wrong and that money could be spent in better places.

I know Cali has new requirements for APU's. Seen the New Thermo King Tri Pacs have an option for CA now.

Enjoy 50-state compliance with reimagined emission reduction technology
Choose the TriPac APU model with a passive aftertreatment device (ATD) that is a 50-state compliant solution for California Air Resource Board (CARB) and is EPA Tier 4 compliant for new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or aftermarket installations. Elimination of the dash switch gives your drivers one less thing to worry about. Plus, new metal mesh technology provides fast regeneration — in as little as eight minutes

I heard they banned apus to. But I don't think they could enforce it since it's inhumane

Some gens are being listed as Cali compliant now. Or 50 states compliant.

    Something along those words.
