You could also buy a travel cpap machine not sure how much less power they use but they do make them some even have their own battery but you don't get any humidifier or anything extra because they are setup for travel as little power usage as possible.

I use my CPAP every night without idling, I turn the humidifier off when I'm on the road. When I first got my CPAP I actually used a boost box like you use to jump a car, like 50 bucks at Walmart, and a 175 watt inverter, I was afraid it would kill my batteries on the truck. I have done the same at home when power went out.

Not all the time, when there is high humidity, there is no need for it to be heating. The humidity in a non-heated chamber still raises the humidity in the tube and mask. I don't have mine on here at home much of the time, when the a/c is on and in the wintertime when it is really dry but otherwise it has water in it and that's it.

Many inverters.... Mine included will shutdown above or below a certain voltage..... Even the cheap 300watt truck stop inverter I had would do the same..... Now this may still be low enough that your truck won't crank.... But it won't completely kill the batteries....

Newer trucks will shut down most of the power when the voltage gets too low, but that doesn't stop the battery drain if you're running an inverter directly wired to the battery. The drain only stops if you're running the kind of inverter that plugs into a 12 volt socket (cigarette lighter).

My volvo uses .4-.7 gl. per hr. At low idle. .4 with the ac off, .5 with ac on, .7 when the engine fan kicks on

The factory low voltage disconnect alarm (most of the time) will wake you. But remember all it does is cut the factory 12v systems and will do nothing to a invertor.

The newer power drive inverters (with Bluetooth ) have setting you can change for alarm avd voltage cut off.

You can't just use any battery in a volvo because of the way the batteries are connected. Batteries Plus has RV/MARINE... DEEP CELL/STARTING 950-1100 cca. They run about $350 each BUT have a free 4 year replacement warranty 6 year pre rated

Those 12v coolers will drain a battery very fast. They are extremely inefficient as well. They use cold plates which is a very bad way to cool things.

OP, I'm not a trucker yet but I do know a thing or two about living off battery power. I've lived the van life the last 4 years and my power comes from a battery bank charged by solar panels. I notice most of these trucks have very big 1 size fits all inverter and this is bad right from the start.

You don't need a 1500w or 2k watt inverter to run simple 110 things. A laptop for instance will usually run off a 150w inverter. That 150w inverter will drain a heck of a lot less power than a 1500 or 2kw inverter. 1st thing I'd do is find out how much watts your machine needs because you might be abler to run a little 200w inverter which will change everything as for how fast your battery gets run down.

Second, look around at your CPAP machine options. I do know they make machines with batteries and I believe 12v machines. I';ve seen this question come up before elsewhere for people living offgrid.

Last, if you do add some extra batteries, do not fall for the "marine" batteries. You want "deep cycle" batteries and marine batteries are not deep cycle no matter what is written on the label. Marine = a battery case it's just a class of battery case but it's supposed to be a dual purpose (fast drain/slow drain).
If a battery has a CCA rating it is not deep cycle end of story. (CCA = cold cranking amps)

The only company that makes a "real" dual use battery is optima blue top batteries.Otherwise it's not a real deepcycle if it also has CCA ratings.

Also if you put batteries under your bed or somewhere inside the truck you want AGM sealed because they wont have very much if any issues venting. (sams club actually sells some decent 12v AGM deep cycle batteries under the Duracell brand they are about $200/ea)

Also the higher the cca rateing the lower the hotel (hrs of battery power) they have..
