I do think there is a max temp at that point you may idle but I am not sure.. -
There are not many of the idle laws that allow that exception.
It is nice to know as truckers we will have very little sleep during our 10 hour break and then have to drive 11 hours. However, we can stay in a motel for 50-60 dollars a night, but why should the driver pay for it. -
And, if that busts their budget, THEY can turn off THEIR air conditioners and heaters.
-
Let them spend a couple of those choice times in a truck. -
Went to CA. last week after a 2 month or so hiatus from the place. I heard the laws have become very strict about idling in Ca.
So when I was on my way I'm thinkin, well I guess I'll have to tough it out until I can get back out of there or get on ildle air.
So anyway, I pull into Barstow and start checkin the place out and wouldn't ya know, just about everyone there was idling.
I went to Ontario, wouldn't ya know, just about the whole place was idling there too. Hmmm.
So much for the big crack down.
I've heard stories but haven't actually seen any enforcement of this law yet. -

I don't ever idle my truck. I have an APU on mine. So while everyone else is burning up I am sitting in my truck nice and cool.
-
Uh-Oh!
The APU just laid an egg.
What'cha gonna do NOW, drivah?
