I will idle tonight just because an ignorant Prime driver parked next to me with their reefer and apu running nonstop.. With 50+ other available spots they decided to park next to a non apu/ dry van truck.
The retard didn’t shut his lights off so the apu kicks on 1 minute after it shuts off..Coffey, God prefers Diesels, Rubber duck kw and 3 others Thank this. -
OK Karen. Who gets to decide when they are comfortable, some cubicle dweller sitting in an air-conditioned office or the man in the vehicle? Which of your decisions are you willing to turn over to people 500-1000 miles away because it makes the people 500-1000 miles away happy?
Truck engines generate tremendous heat. It can take most of an hour, after the engine is shutdown, before all of that heat is dissipated. Depending on the weather the temp and winds outside may take too long before the truck interior is at a comfortable temp, without idling. Also, trucks parked side-by-side, don't get a lot of air circulation because their windows and vents may very well be blocked by the trucks on either side. Also, to get this cooling from nature may require the windows of the truck to be left open, I don't know the criminal history/record the the people in this parking lot or the town, but I should trust that criminals are unwilling to want the stuff in my truck? Have you ever heard how noisy it is in a truck stop? Go park your car beside a busy highway, turn off your engine/HVAC, roll down your windows and tell me if that noise makes sleeping easier or more difficult.
It's not of your **** business if anyone is idling their truck. Run for government so your job will be to tell people how to run their lives. -

Is getting sufficient rest to safely drive later serving ANY financial or environmental purpose?

From what I’ve seen with apu’s they’re only a good way to add a few hundred pounds to your tare wt. Unless you live in Kansas and only want ballast to help hold it down in a tornado it’ll just be expensive and useless. There’s 2 on my trucks, they make a good box to store corner protectors and stuff in after you get the useless junk out of the cabinet.pete781693, Concorde, Last Call and 1 other person Thank this.

When I pulled a chilly we were all relegated to Reefer Row out in the back 40 somewhere. No spots there, we pulled into a spot somewhere else so our rattling and banging old NWD 30 wouldn’t bother anybody. What happened?Concorde Thanks this.

I like nothing better than someone with straight pipes idling next to me. Not only does it make my beard grow three inches overnight, but I also know when they leave, they aren't taking my hood with them.
It's the quiet ones I worry about.pete781693, JoeyJunk, PacoTaco and 8 others Thank this. -
“Perfect” weather is a matter of opinion.
I sleep with the windows open in January, while somebody else that doesn’t quite have my “insulation” might need a double layer sleeping bag in July.JolliRoger, skallagrime, pete781693 and 6 others Thank this.
