Seriously man. I leased a truck up until september thru a comapny and got paid percentage. It got real ugly when the market tanked early 09. still is very cut throat, company's goin in and cuttin rates on the freight to try and keep/ get business. You need to listen to me here. unless u are buyin a double drop and plan on pulling oversize/width u need to get with a company. dont even buy a trailer rite now. If u get on with someone u get their discounted fuel prices too. its signigicantly less than sign prices, i know this. owner ops by themselves pay out the butt for fuel. u could get it dirt cheap thru comdata at a big company. im really tryin to help u out here. ive seen the numbers side of what u may or may not be tryin to do rite now. its very grimace, take my advice

First and foremost, a hearty congratulations on the new truck. She's a beauty! May she be the basis for good money and good memories.

I'll probably catch all kinds of hell for this, but one of the BEST things you can do is distance yourselves from the many negative people that are on this forum. I cannot believe the negativity just in this thread alone. Guy gets a new truck, is excited and makes a post and he getting bagged about it. Don't listen to the naysayers and negative folks. You've got your plan, work it! The more negative you read, the more apt you are to start believing it. Don't let anyone....ANYONE tell you it can't be done, you'll go broke or anything of the sort.

You'll get out of it what you put into it. Surround yourself with positive people, whether here or elsewhere. Make smart business decisions and equally as important... enjoy yourselves!

Gears is right!! If I had listened to all the gloom and doom when I bought my first truck, second truck, third truck and last truck I would have never bought the first one. Fuel is going up,the brokers will break you, the DOT will cost you money, the insurance is too high, costs too much for tires, the shippers want you to haul it too cheap etc etc etc. I bought my first one in 1984!! Congratulations on your truck!! Dot the i's cross the t's and go truck man! Best of luck to you!! Run it like a business and reap the rewards. Keep us posted. I like to hear how things are going.

Hedon, congratulations and good luck to you both! ;)

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! All successful people fail at times. That's what makes or drives them to be successful! If you give up without genuinely trying, then & only then, are you classified a failure! Keep your head up even during the hard times and you should be fine.

Sorry, I personally don't believe in failure, only in failing.

    First, Congatulations!
Second, don't let anyone rain on your parade. Negativity begats negativity.
Always have a plan B in the works in case plan A doesn't work out. And remember that you haven't failed if you are trying.
