Helps to know where you live....the cost of living, and pay are different everywhere you go.
In my area (northeast Iowa)...not a whole lot more than that. Also, in construction; we have what is called a Davis-Bacon Scale, which pays better depending on the population of the county in which the construction project is in. The higher the population....the more tax money collected....the better the pay.
Just keep in mind; if you get a Class A CDL...even if you use it locally, that experience is never deemed "experience" by over-the-road companies if you decide to go that route later in life. If you plan to run only Class B equipment, might as well not waste your time with a Class A.Shaggy Thanks this. -
Varies on location and company. CDL B Front loader / Roll off @ Allied Waste ( BFI ) can make $60-$80,000 a year. Hustle and Seniority.
CDL class A is nice to have. CDL Class B still can make great money also.
School bus wages probably pay better then CRST and home every night.

I live in Philadelphia, PA and I NEVER want to go over the road. Just local stuff. Im really looking to invest the money I make so I don't see myself doing this stuff longer than 10 years.

Same here, 7 years invested into this corrupt career, finally paying off. Only takes 1 incident / accusation / good idea fairy ( feds / company ) to make it all go away. Back to the beginning and proving yourself.

I look at it like a drug addiction, every year planning to get out of it...Shaggy and Jokingypsy Thank this.

I don't see myself putting on this uniform when I'm 40. But I bet that's what all the older guys getting ready to retire used to say back in the 80s when they were hired. I bet their 401(k) accounts are pretty healthy after all those years.Shaggy Thanks this.
